I finally had a listen to a few of the tracks in the Remix category today, and it's good to see that more people are doing FoxxVox songs! (I was the only one who dared last time around!) Here are my thoughts:

"Slow Motion" by Andy Robins (Mo's Lotion): Being somewhat of a karaoke junkie myself, I thought this was awesome!!! Can I put words to it and use it? Please? laugh Excellent job, and very true to the original!

"Quiet Man" by Andy Robins (Mo's Lotion): Great job on this one, too, but if this isn't another karaoke version, it could have maybe done with some lyrics. smile Still, it sounded fabulous!

"My Sex" by Paul Boddy (EMP): I'm not usually one for dance remixes, but this was a very interesting take on such a wonderful song. And either you sampled John's voice or you sound a hell of a lot like him! smile Great job!

"My Sex" by Lee Prosper: Another different and interesting take on this song. I felt the lyrics were a bit rushed in places, though. Still...wonderful job!

"Mr. X (25 Years On)" by Doug Wright: The only Ure-era song I've listened to so far. Pretty good! I liked how the vocals were done, and it captured the mood well musically. The adding of the extra lyrics took a bit of getting used to, but it was a very creative idea on your part. smile

Dearest Ms. X

Thanks for your kind comments.

I have no problems at all if you want to use Slow Motion or Quiet Men...

I can't sing...Period! Would love to hear the end result, and if you want to send me the vocal track, I'll remix the whole thing as both tracks are a bit... errr... iffy... (there I go with the elipses again) :p

Hi Andy!

You're welcome! They were both very good!! laugh

I'll obviously not use either one for the competition. That would be cheating! biglaugh I could, however, put a vocal track to "Slow Motion" at the very least and send you the mp3, and see what you think. wink And if you like it, I'd love to hear the remix! I don't think either track is a bit iffy at all! smile

OK, I just had to post about this one...

Mike Lyden's cover of "The Thin Wall": Absolutely f*cking hilarious!!!! lmao lmao I will never listen to "Ring Of Fire" the same way again...or "The Thin Wall," come to think of it! I loved this track! smile

Mike, if anyone could pull off a William Shatner-esque version of "Mr. X," I think it could be you. Give it some thought! laugh

Me too... Can you imagine my face when I was hearing this for the 1st time? So funny brilliant, excellent! <img border="0" alt="[The Finger]" title="" src="graemlins/thefinger.gif" />

I gave the last uploads a spin today. Wow! A hard decision in voting. I am personally also very much into the dance-version of RIE from Jesper/Denmark. The 1st time in my life I really was able to dance to the sound of RIE. Thanks!

Hi Blue,

You are welcome laugh

I agree that the original version of RIE is a bit difficult to dance to... but maybe a slow fox could do it...hehe.

Thanks Mrs X. et al. Glad you enjoyed it - just a bit of fun... wink Unfortunately there's a string pattern missing from the mix which had the 'Thin Wall' intro (hence the long intro with nothing much seeming to happen)... When the comp is over I'll post a more polished version laugh .

I'm working my way through the rest of the entries just now and there are some brilliant versions. Well done everybody and good luck!

As for the Bill Shatner Mr. X, that sounds interesting... Now, where's my copy of Bill's "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds"? I could have sworn I left it next to my copy of Leonard Nimoy's "Bilbo Baggins". confused shock wink
