The DVD (Audio Only) contains a new 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of the Album/B-sides by Steven Wilson along with 24/96 Hi-Res audio of the new mixes and the original 1982 Master/B-sides. The boxset is priced around $80.00 through Amazon.
Saw this on Amazon earlier, assuming the contents are correct I'm glad that the disc count has been increased so that a full disc of rehearsals are included.
Really looking forward to this release and all the associated official merchandise options when it's officially announced.
The live versions of New Europeans, We Stand Alone and I Remember were on the Quartet Deluxe edition from 2009, great that we get the full show now. I was hoping the new concert might have been from a different day though, like how the RIE 2008 live tracks were from a different show to the new boxset. Not that I'm being ungrateful for what we have of course as this set looks spectacular.

You're getting the best single performance & recording freshly remixed & nicely mastered.

I ordered from the official store. With postage it came to £72.
I got a deluge of emails and Amazon were doing it for £59.00. As I have prime, it was a no-brainer to cancel the official store order. Townsend music were very quick to do it, thankfully. They are a great shop.
Can't wait for it to arrive. So glad they seem to be doing the whole series.
Listened to the live album today, just curious if someone can confirm that the band goes out of sync on Astradyne around the 3 minute mark until the end of the track. If not then my cd might have an error or something?
Please can someone check theirs and make sure I'm not crazy.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks for checking, just to be sure it's at 3:05 on Astradyne and the drums are completely out of time with the rest of the track. My old Hammersmith bootleg doesn't sound out of time so wonder if my CD has an issue?

The band did go out of sync in Astradyne and what we are hearing is what was played on the night. Most likely this was something like a stage monitor failure meaning that the band couldn't hear what everyone was playing.
Label & hangers on aware of the issue when the recording multitracks were digitised and the band approved going ahead.

Not at Hammersmith in '82 at any rate. I can't recall Serenade ever being played live (could be wrong) and WCTD wasn't a live staple until Set Movements in '84.
Edit: just checked and no record of Serenade being played at all and no record of WCTD before Spain 1984. IMHO that's a good thing because those are the two tracks that make Quartet a relatively weak album.

There is a 'kind of' live version of Serenade on YouTube, it's from a TV show and is live vocals over the album recording music, i think the program was called 'Getting set' or something like that.
I love Serenade, I wish Ultravox had included it in the set back in the day. Midge performed it live on his latest Voice & Visions tour and it was amazing.

If you mean this one from 'Getting Set', then it isn't live vocals, I'm afraid.
Hi, have just received my box set, haven't had a chance to listen yet. A couple of questions though, regarding the live concert. The credits say it is from Dec 5th, 1982. They also state that all tracks are previously unreleased. However, the Quartet definitive edition from 2009 has 3 tracks from that date on Disc 2. So an error then? Of course, the tracks are newly mixed, so those 3 are unreleased in those mixes, I suppose....
Anyway, second question: is it known which gig(s) the tracks are taken from on the live album Monument - The Soundtrack? Not the 5th, I presume, due to the "previously unreleased" statement? The credits on that album does not specify dates, the Wiki page says "4-7 December". Thanks in advance for any info anyone might have.

Correct: they are freshly mixed and unreleased in that version, just as a fresh mix of a studio track would considered 'unreleased' until that point.

As per the last answer, regardless of whether any of the tracks were released on Monument, these are new mixes, etc.
Also....Monument is from several different nights' recordings so some of the Monument performances appear on this release. See if you can work out which ones!
In addition.....Monument was heavily overdubbed in the studio, arguably almost to the point of them being different performances from the live show. Still, not as overdubbed as Japan's Oil On Canvas live album - only the live drums made it through to the final mix and Richard Barbieri was quoted at the time as being 'in the studio [Manor] recording our live album'....

Thanks for the answers! Ha, we'll see if I can ever detect the Monument performances then . Good to know about the overdubbing. Looking forward to hearing this concert not least since this was the tour I first saw Ultravox live. Stockholm, Sweden, Feb 4th, 1983. My first concert by anyone, in fact.
Yeah, I have read over the years about the Japan album being heavily overdubbed, ridiculously so, it seems.
