Was that posted before the EMI layoffs?

Good news if its still happening.

I'll probably buy them depending on what's on the extras.

Re: Billy Updates His Website..... - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 02:58:00

Ive been asking about these double cd remasters for years, be it with a live album or extra tracks. The recent Foxxvox remasters put the Midgevox ones in the shade for sound quality. Glad to see that these are finally being re-released. As for U-Vox, i'll buy it to complete the set, and any other solo Foxx/ Foxx & Gordon remasters. Its interesting that this fairly major news comes just weeks after EMI's mini meltdown. Fingers crossed for Anthology and the other project.

Re: Billy Updates His Website..... - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 03:14:00

This IS the other project we've been working on - and as for the timing coming right on the heels of the 'mini-meltdown', that's just seriously bad luck. We've been working on these discs for 2 or 3 years; it took 10 months of detective work to get permission to reinstate the Rage in Eden cover alone.

So yes, Billy has indeed let the cat out of the bag. But as for details, we're still (currently) bound by EMI not to say anything - mostly because of the MAJOR restructuring (not sure I'd call it minor). They don't want to commit to details as we don't know who will be left at the end of March; 45% of UK staff are losing their jobs.

However, now that Billy has given out details, it may be that EMI will let us talk about it; we'll keep you posted when we hear back. Because there will be some REALLY tasty things on these discs. These will be remastered, definitive editions. wink

Thanks for the update Cerise & for all yours & Robs hard work (even on the Pink thing laugh ,some people somewhere actually like it!)

EMI will be missing a serious trick if they fail to release remastered Vienna soon.

Tonight the sequel to Life on Mars,Ashes to Ashes starts & the trailer has been endlessly plugged on the beeb for the last few weeks with Vienna playing on it.

With free publicity like that it would be a crime to not release it to take advantage.

Re: Billy Updates His Website..... - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 06:59:00

Ah, so the first of the two big projects is finally happening. It kind of makes the Anthology seem more tangible with or without the EMI problems, at least lets hope so.

I concider the Foxxvox remasters as definitive too, in that their the best versions avalible (although without some rare tracks we all wanted included) and probably draws the line on any more re-issues of them in future. Its understandable why the Midgevox ones needed another release, as improvements in remastering moves on all the time. Hope this brings them up to the standard of the recent Metamatic one and any other future remasters of Johns.

As there were not all the rare tracks we expected on the Foxxvox remasters, is there any chance of an Anthology from Johns era too.

As always thanks to Cerise, Rob and everyone involved with this project. Coupled with all the latest remasters released and to be released, the family is sounding better than ever.

There's certainly no plans for a FoxxVox Anthology that I'm aware of - though that scarcely matters as there's plenty of other projects on the horizon from John... wink

We've just had confirmation - nope, we're still not allowed to give details as yet I'm afraid. Not until the band has approved the audio and a provisional release date for the first two has been agreed, “otherwise misleading information will get out to retail and then the fans”. So there you have it.

Not long to go, though. wink

Re: Billy Updates His Website..... - Sat, 09 Feb 2008 05:00:00

Righto, that's got that one sorted!

All we need now is a "Greatest Hits" tour for a bit of marketing and everyone will be happy.

I have a vision of two shows per day (one matinee and one evening), one with John, Robin (or even Stevie!) and co. with Midge doing the night (or vice versa).

Who knows, we might even get a jam session with everyone for an encore. I wonder how John and Midge's vocals would sound together.............

Oh well, time to wake up now!

Ah, yes but . . . What if there's a whole slew of material that was rejected for inclusion on / in TPT because it was too much in the vein of what had gone before and didn't comply with the new, trimmed down, brassed up (and off) style-less image? Now, wouldn't that be worth the waiting for?
