Hi!
You live in Falkirk now? I was there on my Scotland trip in 1997, too! So I've "seen" both, Your old and new home smile . Our sightseeing-magazine wrote about Falkirk something like "conquered by Wallace, visited by The Bruce" and praised its shopping mall. We went there, but realized a little late that it was sunday.... .
So we left quite early again.... . But what we saw looked nice.

Oh, I'm sorry. My memory doesn't seem to work at its best. It was a friday, but we were just a little late and didn't have very much time to concentrate on shopping.... ..

We wrote in our "log":
"Unser nächstes Ziel war Falkirk. Dort haben wir in der, im Prospekt so ausdrücklich gelobten, Fußgängerzone und in einem Einkaufszentrum eingekauft, haben das (wirklich sehr schöne) Stadtbild bestaunt und sind dann zum Zeltplatz in den Trossachs gefahren und haben unser Nachtlager aufgeschlagen."

or in english:
"Our next destination was Falkirk. There we have done some shopping in the pedestrian area and the shopping mall, which had been expressly praised in our brochure, have gazed the really beautiful townscape and finally left to drive to a camping ground in the Trossachs to camp there."

I was in Edinburgh last week and was told it was a 'short drive' to Livingston. A £40+ taxi ride later ... banghead banghead banghead

LoL, actually most retailers up here open longer hours on a Sunday than down south!

AK.... it is a short drive to Livingston... about half an hour, but because Edinburgh taxis aren't allowed to pick up passengers on the way back through they have a set rate! (it would have been cheaper private hire rather than black cab!) Sorry useless info!

Please don't mention Livingston. I went there looking at houses when I was trying to decide where to live. It actually bought me out in a sweat icky

Just in case anyone wants to go shopping in Falkirk on a Sunday it is open and they have a lovely market where you can buy cherry tomatoes but the sackful. excited
