Midge Ure cameo - Heaven 17 documentary - Sun, 06 Mar 2011 21:45:00

On Heaven 17's new DVD video documentary for their 'penthouse and pavement' tour. Midge makes
an appearance at the very end of one of the documentaries.

It's hilarious, as he totally makes fun (tongue in cheek) about glenn gregory and Heaven 17.

He makes fun of the group and their songs,
and says that they don't have any talent,
and what is that song 'we don't need this
FATTEST groove thang', a song about fat people?

maybe i'll try to post a short clip of it.

Speaking of which, just sat looking through the booklet of the latest ZTT compilation - The Art of the 12" - and amazed to see that Midge is in there too!

Or, rather, I should say Otto Flake JR smile

When Your Heart Runs Out of Time was recorded for Nick Roeg's movie Insignificance, and Midge was asked to produce it given his connection with Glenn. It's a duet between Glenn and Claudia Brucken of some (old?) country song by Will Jennings, and executive produced by Mr. Otto Flake himself, Paul Morley.

I'll have to try and listen to it later tonight now I'm pancaked out smile

Roy Orbison, eh?

Thanks for that, I can only presume that Glenn's half-forgotten that it was actually a cover of that film song, and looking at copyright date they've given the track it's later than 1984, so that jibes with your link.

Can't say the version here is particularly gosh, wow, although that rather sounds like a bit of Midge axe work at the end there smile

Glenn is "sort of" correct. The Glen/Claudia version appears on the soundtrack album, but ( as far as I know , but I may be wrong ) not in the actual film.

Ah, I see. Well, you get some weird things with soundtracks and what's actually played on the film, as I've learnt to my cost in the past (as I'm sure many here have too) smile

Thanks!

Watched it last night , and can confirm my previous thoughts that the Glen/Claudia/Midge version just appears on the soundtrack album, not in the film.
