My site - Sat, 25 Feb 2006 15:20:00

Hi--it's been a long while since I've posted anything, but I thought I'd share my rudimentary portfolio site. I've been an artist all my life and am very blessed to be doing what I love for a living.

My stuff

Take care!

Joan

Edited to add: It would certainly help if I added the link wouldn't it? LOL

I don't know a whole lot about art and can't draw or paint for toffee. Its obvious you're talented though. Congratulations - and I'm very jealous you get to do what you love doing for a living too! smile

Thanks Flip! The drawback to working tho is that in my spare time I don't want to do anything with art--i.e. picking up a pencil and drawing or creating something of my own rather than someone dictating to me what they want---that's something I used to do in my spare time as a kid. Plus, a few years ago I experienced a total burnout and couldn't be motivated to keep the creative juices flowing. Maybe someday I'll motivate myself into fabricating something that I want to create--maybe go into fine art...Anyway, I'm rambling... smile

Interesting point - you hear the same thing from photographers. Its one thing taking photos in your spare time and trying to be creative or take "good" pictures (as I do) but if I was taking them all day everyday - wedding pictures, baby snaps etc... I think I'd be so sick of the camera at the end of the day that I'd never do anything for myself. Likewise with music - being under pressure to produce "output" would be a total turn off.

Ooh look, I'm rambling too...! biglaugh

Hi electro80's! Nice site btw--tho the text is a little hard to read because the font is sooo small! smile My friend is fantastic at graphic design so I'll forward your post to her if that's okay.

Take care!

Two comments here...

1) Loved the site, especially the Biker image, who looks more than a little like yours truly, sad to say. I also liked the tattoo on his gut "Fallen Angel" which, by a strange and unusual coincidence, is the title of a CD I released in December. smile

2) Burn out - sadly, we've all been there. You end up creatively blocked for months, even years.

If you're seriously blocked - and it sounds like you are - you might like to look up a book "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. She knows her stuff and her methods for removing creative blocks do work.

Hope this helps.

Thanks David! Ya those biker characters were created for the 50Cent game--they wanted something similar to Hells Angels---which biker character are you referring to? I think there are two up there with the tattoo--one crazy looking dude with a cod piece and the "boss" guy with long whitish hair. I'd love to hear your CD!

I will look up that book you recommend--I could use some inspiration right now! smile

Thanks again!
