If I have luck ( Peter have something to manage for my visit at his home) I will go to this gig too; with Peter and my girlfriend.

Perhaps we can meet us together there? Birdsong, Feline1, Robert and Church Puddle - would be nice , would'nt it?

Rob have you any informations about what John will exactely do on this gig? Will he play some stuff from Translucence or Drift Music together with Harold Budd? I never saw Harold live but i'm very interested into see him on stage. Heard some stuff from him esp. Plateux of mirror, and the CD's with John. Great Musician. And with John together on stage - this is it worth to travel from Hamburg to Brighton! And I'm interesting to see Jah Wobble - know him from his P.I.L. times...

Hope all work out fine to manage my travel to UK. I'm keen to visit the English Island again!!!!

Bye, Andreas wink

Folks, I don't think Harold Budd himself is actually going to be there and performing?

Is the deal not that Budd has retired now from performing, and this is a 'tribute evening' to his music?

Check before you buy your tickets!

Brighton of course is a lovely place anyway, the San Francisco of Europe laugh
and the Dome is a beautiful old theatre venue.

According to the venue's website : This Brighton Festival exclusive marks the pianist/composer's last live performance, before retiring from the concert arena.

See you all there... wink

I joined as a friend. For the sake of £25, I didn't think the prospect of potentialy missing out justified not paying the sum (could you imagine that!!!!!). And split between four people, the price of 'Friend' membership was just like an additional booking fee you'd pay at Ticketmaster.

I do hope someone will be in a position to distribute a sonic souvenir for those of us who can't make it there. Harold Budd, Robin Guthrie (whose solo album Imperial is pretty good), John Foxx... damn.

But alas I don't really know Brighton, so is there anyone who can suggest a venue??

Hi
I ordered my tickets this morning. It would be great if we could arrange and confirm a meeting place in Brighton on Sat 21st May. Like Birdsong I don't know Brighton at all well.
Feline1 I know you're suggested a place is it reasonable to assume that the place you mentioned is a good one?
I remember the last time we met at the Sahara Nights before the Scala concert, don't get me wrong but the music inside was very load to have a conversation.

Just booked my ticket. I'm up for a gathering.

The West Pier would be just lovely but don't you think we're a few decades too late? wink Or has Nick Cave's idea of an ape sanctuary been approved? :p

This will be some event I reckon. I became interested in Harold Budd in the early '90s, having no idea he would be working with another great hero later on. Also I went to uni in Brighton so will be great to come back. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />

Got the Metamatic update mail from Rob about this gig and now I begin to feeling nervous... excited

Will anyone going to the weekend party in April? For me it is too expensive to go there, the Euro is not so high as the Pound, so 120 Pounds would be a very expensive adventure for me...

BUT I'M READY FOR BRIGHTON - GLAD TO MEET YOU THERE!!!!

Hi

In fact it will be 30 days upon tomorrow until the gig - Have anyone thought about a good meeting point? For me, the West pier is not bad , know a little bit about it - stood there for a day in the past...

Any better ideas?

Not too long to wait now... excited

Re: john foxx live in brighton - Wed, 20 Apr 2005 22:31:00

Hi
I'm up for a meeting. Like Shadow man says the East pier ( The one that still standing) would be OK, say 5 o'clock? This will give us time to find a bar and have a quiet chat before the doors open at 18.45. I'll have my mobile with me and I'm willing to co-ordinate, unless anyone has any other thoughts.

Re: john foxx live in brighton - Thu, 05 May 2005 22:43:00

Hi guys

No, I'm not going to Brighton alone. I will be accompanied by a top friend of mine called "Mike". He's a great bloke and a BIG fan of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and Harold Budd - in fact all things 80s (although not esp John Foxx!!). He's my 'gig' companion

Andreas, I send you a photo of me via the email <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" /> cos my new isn't up yet!

Re: john foxx live in brighton - Mon, 09 May 2005 22:16:00

Thanks for the photo Martin. I will print it and take it with me in Brighton - so it is better to find you at the pier. Great your friend Mike comes with you, so until yet we are 5 people.

HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE MORE???????

I'll be there about that time. Just after seeing Man U beat Arsenal in the cup final in fact. wink

Btw, Bill Nelson's diary has been updated (28 April), http://www.billnelsonmusic.com/html/villa/study.php, seems he is going to do two pieces with Harold. Seems reasonable to expect the same with John? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />

Andreas,

That's excellent info. I wonder if the concert is going to be recorded. I hope so. laugh

What about Steve Jansen ex Japan ? How many tracks will he be playing ? wink

What about Steve's brother, David Sylvian ? Isn't he going to turn up?

I would have loved to have gone but you know family commitments. I'll have to content myself with watching the Eurovision song contest instead .

When in Brighton, here is a fantastic and economic Indian restaurant (it was vegetarian in 2002), the Bombay Aloo. There are 3 of them in Brighton, if I remember well.

It's not far from the pier. And the currie had no "effect" on me. biglaugh

Re: john foxx live in brighton - Thu, 19 May 2005 21:14:00

Sounds like this could be a good gig for spotting a few famous faces. Harold Budd's influence is seismic, so everyone who is anyone could be around I suppose. All very exciting.

I'm doing a sensible thing, having been caught out before, (it being a Saturday and all) and booking me a table at PizzaHut (not very imaginative, but hey - needs must and I've never been to Brighton b4) for 5.30ish. There'll be enough places if anyone wants to come along from the Pier rendezvous.
I anticipate going to the venue for beers rather than a pub

Currently playing Translucence and Drift Music in the hope that I can identify the tracks John will play with Harold. What are the chances?
CC - it's the 50th Eurovision. Should be FAB - I'm having that recorded at least!!

It's a shame to say but I have no things to do that , hope another guy could manage that. AT LEAST - IT IS ILLEGAL! But I have to admit I would love to have a copy too. Perhaps we can hope for an official recording? excited
