Thought I'd start this area off for you with this.

I have a Signed Quartet album that is a marbled Picture Disc.
I got it signed when I queued for ages at the Quartet launch at HMV (I think) in Tottenham Court Road.
Happy Days and treasured.

I think I have some photos of that day, in a scrapbook I bought from someone years ago... I think her name was Andrea Hitch. Will turf 'em out at some point and post them in the Media Archive - you never know, you might be in there somewhere! laugh

I missed that signing, I was in London a day or so before it (at a computer show with Dad) and saw the poster in the window at HMV. I sooo wanted to stay, but alas it was not to be!

Edit: Actually the pics I have might be from an HMV London launch of Lament, I seem to remember the clothes they were wearing was more 1984-ish. I'll find 'em at some point and let you know. smile

I was there. Midge had a big smile for my girlfriend but Warren didn't seem too happy. Midge wasn't too happy with 2 guys wanting pieces of paper signed pointing out they were promoting the album.

I also got The Thin Wall 12" signed aswell, so i think it was the earlier one....either way...Good to meet them.
I also think the Picture disc was bought seperately after the signing and I put it into the album cover to keep them together.

I'm with Sleepy on that one - The Thin Wall promo poster I have has been framed and hanged in every dwelling in which I've...dwelled smile . A classic piece of artwork.

I have so much UVX memorabilia packed away I have no idea what all I have. One day soon I will sort it all out. I know I have the RIE tie pin (sorry, not for sale) and the RIE tie with the logo at the bottom (ditto). I do have a couple of 'rare' German tour posters from the RIE and Quartet eras. Tons of magazines, pins/buttons, tour programmes, t-shirts, and I think every 7 and 12 inch that came out (autographed and not, clear and black vinyl), along with some unofficial bootlegs. And yes, the exquisite Japanese "Hymn" 12" EP with laser-etched rim is a truly beautiful and prized possession.
However, I think my most prized possession in this realm is actually not an Ultravox piece but related - my original release "The Anvil" CD. Sentimentally, my personal favourite piece is the clear vinyl 12 inch of no one's favourite ( wink ) UVX song "We Came to Dance." From the simple but stunning artwork to the 12" extended mix, it is overflowing with the most treasured memories of that time for me.

Every vinyl release they created was a work of art from the cover to the music, even often the record label (i.e. "The Voice" 12 inch). It's a lost art and I mourn its death.

Still in love with the glory of the vinyl 12 inch...

(...er, vinyl 12 inch record, that is... wink )

Good to be back, Sleepy. smile

Yes, the Quartet/Monument shirt was very 'elegant' for a t-shirt. Don't have it but recently saw one up for grabs on e-Bay; think it went for about 30 US. I do have the RIE t-shirt but sadly the one I have is quite a disappointment - neon blue and neon yellow on a white shirt. Why, I ask?! Should have been done on a burgundy red shirt with the original gold and navy, et al. Have an old Ultravox! (second LP) t-shirt with just the text running down it several times, black shirt, white text. Unfortunately it got mixed in with the bleach load in the wash and now is a faded brown. frown I'll blame my mum for that one. wink

Alas, if I had all the money I spent back then on all the UVX memorabilia I have now I'd be sitting on the beach with a bottle of Tequila getting a tan enjoying a life of leisure. wink But I don't regret it.

Cheers to you, SW <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />
