As this was my idea, I'd thought I'd be the first to post....

What is classed as a Ultravox rareity?
What is the rarest item?
What is your rarest item in your collection?
What is the rarest item You'd loved to have in your collection?

Heres mine all Numan I'm afraid.

My own personal rarest items that I own are

Photograph (Cassette)
BBC college Interview
BBC transcription interview albums X2
Stars 12 inch

The rarest items that I don't have but would like are.

This is my life. 7 inch promo
Stormtrooper in drag 12"
I die you die Alt.mix 7"
BBC transcription disc Rock hour Santa Monica '80
BBC transcription disc Rock hour Hammy '83

I've only got the 1.st CD releases of all the Ultravox albums up to U-VOX and the first three Midge Ure albums, the 4 re-released John Foxx albums too.

As I look in on Ebay for Numan rareties and post them up on the Numan UBB, I'll also do Ultravox/Related and post them on here, I'll also put a link to the item and how much its selling for. laugh

Heres an example

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=105055&item=7525239058&rd=1

$9.99 current bid or $19.99 buy now

I'm sure I'll put some duds up there but with time, and everyones help, I'll learn whats rare and what isn't laugh smile

I don't know about rare items but the most prized Ultravox item I have is a signed copy of Vienna. Probably not worth too much as there were a lot of them floating around but I like it.

Hi
Some of these are difficult questions to answer.
I'm not sure how rare Ultravox vinyl is. I would quess 7"inch singles during the JF era with European picture sleeves.

Probably the Rarest vinyl I own are the two Nation 12 12" singles.

The rarest item I'd love to have is original limited CD versions of the Omnidelic Exotour.
Regards
Peter

what I'm trying to find out is there an any withdrawn albums like Photograph withdrawn Gary Numan album circa 1981, Album is worth about 80+, but the cassette can reach 150-200+

Or, Any promotional vinyls like Numans White Boys and Heroes US only promo with a different remix thats never been released.15-30
Pre midge would be worth a lot of money to the right collector
Acetates,White label test pressings
Promos
BBC Transcription album that are pressed by the BBC for the local radio stations for transmission, depending on the artists, only 50-100 copies were pressed, they can go for 300+
Anything like that.
Id check all your vinyl to see what you've actually got, you never know you could be sitting on a small fortune.

According to the 2004 Record Collectors guide, the most valuable Ultravox release is none other than the Pink thing on CD. This it values at 35 but in ten years of buying the book, I've never found their valuations to be remotely accurate. <img border="0" alt="[Shake head]" title="" src="graemlins/shakehead.gif" />

I think the detail needs a bit more substance really. I mean, does the book tell you whether the pink thing is rarer (and therefore more valuble) if, say, it's actually been played or not...

wink

The prices quoted are normally for Mint unplayed releases, then there is a sliding scale depending on the condition. The scale used is Mint, Ex, VG, Good, Fair, Poor, Bad with a comparison being an item valued at 1,000 in Mint condition, drops to 25 in Bad condition, although Bad condition normally means broken or unplayable.
CD's and Cassettes are normally classed as Mint if they play perfectly, or Poor / Bad if they don't.

If you had the 'Pink Thing' with Warrens autograph as well then it would be Mega rare.

I have the Japanese copy of the Lament album plus the UK promo of the Lament album, other promo's of 12" releases including 'All fall down' and 'One small day'. Also I'm not sure how rare it is but I have the Island release of 'Three into one', on cassette which comes with a blank side of tape so that you can record onto it.

I also have a copy of the 12" release by Visage, called 'Pleasure Boys (Dance mix)' which was limited to only 800 copies.

Well...the most rare Ultravox stuff I got must
be the green "Quartet" picture disc which
Midge signed for me personally with the words
"Ashes of memories still aglow - only for you!"

I also got a poster with a picture from the Vienna-era including a very interesting note from Midges diary from the recording of Vienna - signed by Midge - nr. 59 of 500, a small booklet from the U-Vox era signed by Midge, Chris and Billy, New Europeans japanese EP, Hymn japanese EP - the one with the LOVELY art-work!!!, Sleepwalk 7", Vienna 7" promotion single backed with a different and shorter version of Vienna, Dancing with tears...the 7" with the booklet and The Collection limited edition and some other picture-disc stuff and promo stuff.

I also got a "Call Of The Wild" 12" signed by Midge, Billy`s latest album signed by Billy,
Messengers "I Turn (Into you) 7", "Great Institutions" 7" and 12" and some Visage stuff
including the "Pleasureboys" 12" and the "red" limited edition of the Singles Collection.
I once got "Fade To Grey" 12" and "Tar" 7" but
I sold them banghead

PD: Hmm that's funny. I have "Three into One" on cassette as well, but mine is split across the two sides. Also, the photo fills the front of the inlay. I'm guessing yours is an earlier version, since it is in a similar style to the cassette version of "Ha! Ha! Ha!" I noticed on ebay some time ago. Also I bought mine in 1989 in Our Price! I could be wrong though. It has been known ... wink

The promo 12" I've got for "All fall down" is for the live version recorded at Wembley on the U-vox tour, not for the studio recorded version. It also has "Dream on" on the B-side, both tracks feature on the 'Rare Vol.2' cd.

'Ultravox!' the mini e.p. on Island with Live versions of 1. Wild Beautiful and the Damned 2. My Sex 3. Quirks (studio) 4. Young Savage 5. Man Who Dies Every Day 6. Modern Love (studio)

All of the John Foxx double singles with gatefold sleeves and b sides. (Mostly from "The Garden" and Mysterious Ways".)
