Thanks I have to admit, there are some pieces on there that are blatantly inspired by John Foxx's Cathedral Oceans piecs - though I'm happy to say that by studying and being inspired by John's artwork I learned a few new things along the way! The rest is all inspired by music or my own dreams, visions etc. Haven't done anything new in a long while. It's a hobby, though I'd like to do more with digital art at some point. I'm a graphic designer, but in all the jobs I do, there's never the scope for such visual creativity - or I'm yet to get a brief that needs something surreal!! There is some more recent(ish) work on my Gabriel site, that I'm pleased with, at http://thegabrielroom.free.fr/gabrielArtHome.htm

Thanks Trying to 'illustrate' a song in the abstract form is both a difficult and interesting thing to try and do. As a very visual person, perhaps its easier for me than others - I don't know. It's trying to recreate what you see or feel in your head. Now I sound completely crazy! Maybe I should try some artwork for John Foxx songs at some point. I do feel a strong connection with Peter Gabriel's music though, so it came quite easily. I haven't had time to do anything else like this since. THough recently I've been preoccupied with actually making music, so that's another distraction!!

If I could be so forward as to make a request/suggestion: Maximum Acceleration (one of my all time favorite songs) He he - interesting request! I had thought about Slow Motion in the past. The way I visualise a song might match my vision, but not necessarily yours - but it would be interesting to try..... Maximum Acceleration is one of my favourites from Systems of Romance. Leave that with me!

Hi Alex I have just been though your sites. You are certainly a very talented artist. I love your digital photos. I've never given any thought about colours for everyday of the week. Peter

If you'll pardon the pun, it's an everyday thing that just happens and has been like that for as long as I can remember. From my point of view (and probably Alex's as well) it isn't possible to think of days without the association of colours. And it isn't just days of the week - most words and pretty much all music have/has a "colour" for me. As a matter of interest, there are many different types (and, looking at the comments above, spellings) of synaesthesia. It seems to involve the combination of two or more senses. Hi Maryann Sorry for the delay - don't tend to log on over the weekend due to the carrier pigeon nature of our home internet connection. I don't know if you should be envious - I've don't know what life is like without it! From my point of view, it is only intense if I can concentrate on the effects to the exclusion of everything else - certainly with the connection between colours and music. On an everyday level it is there but, to a certain extent, in the background. There are usually too many other things going on as a distraction especially when not at home. However, if Mrs H and I are sat with music on I can "tune in" much better and it is much clearer for want of a better word. The experience is probably different for all synthaesthetes (new word!)- how does it affect you, Alex?

I guess I never notice because I take it for granted. My partner understands synaesthesia and she can relate to a degree - but in a different way to me - maybe more numerical. My numbers do have colours but nowhere near as strong as days. Anyway, with music, I guess if I hear a song that I like, in addition to liking the music, there are colours or textures to go with it, which adds to the appeal. For example I was woken up by the new Pet Shop Boys single on the radio the other day and that had a lasting effect on me for the rest of the day. I've been making my own music recently, which is quite a colourful experience I have to say!

I always found that anything I wrote myself was exceptionally bright as regards colours whereas other people's music doesn't always present such a strong reaction. As regards numbers, I don't get such a strong link with colours although there is still alink. The fact that I work as an accountant ( <img border="0" alt="[Shake head]" title="" src="graemlins/shakehead.gif" /> ) may well mean that I just don't notice it as much.

Gonna have to find a better time to concentrate. Though something tells me it's likely to be pinks, greys and white. I find the whole album to be consistent in similar colours actually. I think there are a lot of layers to explore before I can create a decent interpretation...

Alex, Just downloaded your 'Synthesis' album and will transfer to my ipod shortly. Your music is quite soothing me old son, first impressions anyway. Will check out your other 'Releases' when time permits. Good stuff, and your sites are great too. Cheers.
