Having just seen Midge on the 6 O'clock News, a question rears it's furtive little snout.....

Has he, in fact, eaten ALL the pies?

I might have missed summat, but are Gaelic band RUNRIG conspicuous by their absence? Does anyone know the reason for this - they don't seem to be tourign on that date. Just wondered.

Can you imagine if Midge had eaten all the pies? There he is, crumbs around his ankles, when in gangles Bob. He stops, fights a swathe of hair like one of Miss Havisham's wedding curtains out of his face, and then, almost incoherent: "What the f*** do you think y're f***ing doin? Those f***ing pies were for the f***ing starvin poor bastards in Ethiopia and you've gone and f***in' eaten them all! That was 11 Ginster's pasties and a dozen "Pukka" Steak and Kidneys plus God knows how many Mr Kipling fruit slices destined for that village where Bono taught them a U2 song, and you've eaten the f***in' lot! I don't f***in' believe it! Next time I'm keepin' the key moiself. In fact, next time I'm runnin' the whole f***in' thing moiself. Now go to your room at once!" Poor Midge, one can but imagine.

[Reality Check: I don't for one moment believe that Midge - or any other member of Ultravox - would eat pies that were not theirs, and certainly not Ginster's on a mission of peace. Just so's you know.]

And, of course, B-sides the regular pies:

Passionate Re: Pies
Pasties and Angles
I Never Wanted to Begin (but once I did I had to eat the lot)

I beg to differ, my beleaguered (or is that 'bedraggled'?) colleague.

There are apparently (allegedly) two documented of one Christoper Thomas Allen - of that musical parish - consuming Bowyers Pork pies belonging to a temporarily absent roadie on the '86 tour.

Mr Allen allegedly claimed he'd borrowed them. Said roadie claimed otherwise.

Allegedly.

It does tend to make one consider what may have begun all this filled-crust consumption...

Let's think: 1986............1986?...............

Was it guilt at this, and what the '86 Tour had driven him to, that made said Christopher Thomas Allen, allegedly perpetrator of this heinous act of pork-lard-and-pastry-based theft, turn to vegetarianism?

H

Joking aside I was quite surprised. he looked a little the worse for wear and surprisingly frail.

I was genuinely concerned.

I guess he has a lot on his plate.... he's bound to be a little frazzled! frown (he does often look quite frail, imho)
