And let's be thankful for that - it's a miracle, and shows that occasionally taste, decency and common sense win!!!!...

Has anyone watched the UK Live8 edition DVD? Is it exactly the same footage as shown on the BBC live coverage?

Is it in widescreen (as per the aformentioned broadcast?) or 4x3? The back of the box I looked at in HMV at the weekend seemed to imply it was 4x3, which would be odd. And more than a little annoying <img border="0" alt="[Pissed]" title="" src="graemlins/pissed.gif" />

How good is the coverage of the live performances on this DVD? I have the Live Aid DVD and it is really bad how they just gave snippets of like five seconds of each performance. I did not even get to enjoy Midge's performance there. I do have the original on video tape from back that day, however i was in London for the original show. It was really cool, I was 11 and was with my sister and brother, very cool show!

Erm...are you talking about the proper DVD or this piece of junk?

So there is a better DVD of Live Aid out there. How little did I know. Back to the Live 8 Dvd, is it worth buying?

As souvenirs, both the full DVDs of 'Live Aid' and 'Live 8' are worth buying, although it could be argued the performances at the latter were (and are) the thing that let the event down. 'Live 8' was a different time and place and for a very different cause to the original concert - it had been built up by the media especially into something that was going to be unique, but aside from the message it was trying to give, and Robbie WIlliams and Pink Floyds performances, I don't think there was anything that could be classed as 'special' to consider it anywhere near as memorable or moving as 'Live Aid'. By all means purchase it for the cause, but I'd bet a lot of copies sit on shelves in living rooms as a momento only and go unwatched after the first viewing.

for BOTH DVDs - care to buy the full versions.

LIVE AID really full version is available, i.e. additional 4 DVDs with the rest of the event, what was omitted from the official set, is also available in the net.

Live8 full version is separate DVDs from all the cities - btw, I did not see separate LONDON cncert, and Moscow concert was also forgotten ( only Pet Shop Boys were worth seeing, I seeded their set some time ago ).

if there is interest, i may make another couple of copies of PSB set, and I also have the LIVE AID 4DVD unofficial part as well.

I may have asked this question before but I don't believe I ever got an answer. Disc 4 has the Scottish venue and Midge is on it. Eddie Izzard is playing piano for Midge.
Is this the same Eddie Izzard that is a
cross-dressing comedian/actor ? If so: confused2

How did Midge and Eddie hook up for the event? Must admit I was surprised when I saw it.

Had no idea Mr. Izzard's talents included music; I was only familar with his comedic flair.
