I've been reunited with my love of Ultravox recently while seeing videos on youtube that I haven't seen in 20 years. I still have some on videotape. I fell in love with Midge Ures voice! I have looked for their music on CD over the years, but it is hard to find in these parts. Ultravox is one of the groups I've never grown out of...ya' know how some groups seem juvenille or dated, where Ure and the guys created something I just don't grow tired of. We have vinyl parties and I reach for my Quartet or Rage in Eden, etc...
I came on here wondering what the boys are up to these days. I followed Midge's solo career for awhile, and have his first album, but that was a long time ago. So...What's up? Hope you are still singing with those amazing vocal chords!
Peace,
Vienna

Hi Vienna99
Well I'd say those amazing vocal chords just go from strength to strength and since that first solo album he has produced even more really great solo albums. The 'Move Me' and 'Breathe' albums are incredible....very moving and soul touching. Other albums to look for are 'Answers to Nothing', 'Pure' and 'Little Orphans' but also look for some of his fantastic live albums. If you are wanting to catch up you'll find some of his solo CDs and DVDs available on Midge's site ie

Thanks y'all for the warm welcome.
I got to listening to an old Aphaville tape this morning. Love them too.

Amethyst, thanks for your tips on Midge and his vocal chords...haha. I will look up his site, and try and get some more of his recordings.

Until then...
Vienna

Hi from Berlin, good to know that especially in Colorado someone likes the music of Ultravox. I have a special connection to Colorado, especially Denver and Boulder, spent a long time there for education. So cheers and a warm welcome here from me too. Must be a wonderful indian summer there now near the flatirons...

Welcome! I have family in Boulder and friends in Ft. Collins and spend 2 weeks out there every December (Got caught in both blizzards last year).

You won't find much Midge or UV at the fye store in the mall, but pretty much everything is available in the US one way or another. Actually, just checked Amazon and the selection is pretty comprehensive.

Thanks. aaahhhhh Germany. To Germany with Love, as Alphaville would put it. We have some friends in Berlin, students that did internships at my husbands work. My goal in life is to travel Europe, and especially Germany. I have been to Munich and traveled in Austria, where my grandparents came from, but the trip was very short and it left me longing for much more. I would like to live in Europe someday.
I just ordered a couple CD's off Amazon. Ultravox and Alphaville, but I am on limited budget. I had Lament already, but really wanted Quartet. Barts CD cellar in Boulder is the only place I would have expected to find them, but they never had any. I am in Longmont, and previously lived in Boulder for 14 years.
Peace,
Vienna
