Hello, writing something about me, well I don't like it really. I feel more comfortable in the background. However, the reason I am here is one of my favourite bands and I should explain this a little bit more I think. The 1st song I heard from Ultravox was "Vienna", I was absolutely impressed. I had the chance for watching the video on tv at this time and to listen to it on radio. This is remarkable, because I lived behind the iron wall, in the eastern part of germany. The radiorecorder was everytime ready to record songs of Ultravox, rare enough it were played. I remember listening to radiocharts, I was sad that this guy from australia (think it was) blocked my favourite band from going to the top. Later then I REMEMBER (...) the next great video on the german TV-chart-show "Formel Eins". "Dancing with tears in my eyes" was so sad and one of the last videos, telling you a complete story within the length of a videoclip. But it was hard to get informations about Ultravox, even hard to get a good copy of one of their albums. I remember one great gig I could watch live on tv. Think it was 1983. This was live from Loreley in the german tv-show "Rockpalast". Think 4 bands played this evening. Steve Miller and his band, Men at Work from downunder, a likely unknown band from ireland with the strange name U2 and of course my band Ultravox. I had no video at this time, so the only chance was my radiorecorder. Unfortunally the tape is lost. The last chance to see them on tv for me was their participation at liveaid. I was happy to see them again, even Mitch within a trenchcoat on that hot day at the wembley stadium with mirroring sunglasses. This was also the only reason for buying the live-aid-dvd's many years later. Strange I know. But this all was past, you know, then I discovered something more exciting by the time, girls. Now I am married since many years, have two children, living near Berlin now. Over the years I nearly completed my cd-collection. I can watch their "official" videos anytime I like (you know, unfortunally some stuff never :-( was released or was cropped). My favourite album is "Rage in Eden", this album is not perfect as later ones, I know. But this album is absolutely remarkable. It gives you an idea, of what you can expect from this group, it is fresh, experimenting and offers a lot of opportunities of music, it is not so commercial. Listening to it, everytime I am discovering new things. Maybe I like this album because even it was recorded in germany. And there were many german bands at this time, more regarding this and my other favourits on another topic.
Sorry for my crippled english, Andreas

@Olaf: Come back as you are, we need you! Think you have to look forward! Believe me, best you can do now is trying to make it better if you think it was the worst performance you ever had. Unfortunally I missed your show, need to download it. And never forget this: Die Lichter am Ende eines Tunnels sind nicht in jedem Fall die Lichter eines entgegenkommenden Zugs. Gib Dir ne Chance! Und bitte ändere doch wieder Deinen Namen... @1.Outside: Thank you. I love and I hate this city. If you are coming here next time, we meet! @ Lavaocean: LOL. Hey then I am finally at home... @all others. Thanks for the welcome, enjoying it here...
