I'm (we're) looking forward to John and Louis's new album and I'm (we're) sure the artwork will be great. But I thought it might be fun, and help us to pass the time to design our own covers for the album. The title is certainly open to many interpretations!

Link to your masterpiece from this thread. A

Interesting idea! I have to admit, I've done these in about half an hour, so no great time spent on them. But I wanted to have at least heard some of the new stuff before doing anything - now I have, I felt I could play, like you say, just for fun!

The word 'impossible' made me think of round shapes, for some bizarre reason, and this piece of artwork I had made a couple of years ago seemed to work nicely.

This one uses John's eyes from one of the pictures I took. The camera shake made such a cool little efect over his pupils, so I thought it would look good in a cover context.

In the blue light, blue light...

Alex, John will be commisioning you to do his covers smile . They are all good but I love the third one. It has a sense of mystery about it almost "The hidden Man"

The first is my favourite for these days, but the third looks more like John's early days.

The last one is excellent.

Interesting that you have used caps throughout too, which I think works well.

Brilliant work!

Having seen the cover of Live from a Room, I've finished off something I've been playing with.

Two or three images Photoplopped together, cuz I can't actually draw myself smile

Cheers BS!

By the same token, I think the designs by Alex and yourself are excellent, both aesthetically and technically.

For me, I spend so much time every day up to my neck in PhotoShop that Illustrator is like a holiday, a breath of fresh air and a lovely slice of mature cheddar all rolled into one...

I'm exactly the opposite!

Illustrator and InDesign are my bedfellows.
I have a random but passionate affair with Photoshop, but we don't spend enough time together.

Birdsong, Cromlech, I really love your designs.

The one with the building has thew most fabulous colours.
The red abstract one has something typically Foxxy about it. It reminds me of Metamatic.

I use Quark Xpress, InDesign (which I'm still learning), Illustrator (not very good at it) and Photoshop, which is my best friend (in software terms!)

I like all the ideas posted so far. My attempts to do this kind of thing are severely limited by the software I've got plus my inability even to get the full capabilities out of that! Anyway, this is the first thing that came to mind...

Talking of artwork, I just hope whatever it is is not done 'on the cheap'. Even my office printer could have put out the artwork for the two recent CDs in colour and on better paper for virtually nothing!!
How many copies were there? 500 of each?
That's less than bugger all.

And take a lesson from CO3 guys with the barcode!
What's that bl**dy great white box and liney thing all about??
Totally ruined it.

So now it's "From Trash". I can see Cybermen ('60s vintage grainy black-and-white stills), dustbin bags and the Keep Britain Tidy logo. Metallic flowers sprouting from black sacks.

Or a picture of John and Louis unshaven, living in a tatty cardboard box each near an underpass.

Nice art, but too nice!!!
It's SO not how I see From Trash.

I see
A Blurred Girl
Litter
Stairwells
Junk
Some kind of aural prostitution
P [opc] ornography

Ooh - now there's a line. I'll go with that ... wink

Does anybody know if the original picture of the girl with red lips will still be used for the from trash album, as it fits well with lots of john foxx themes to songs though all hes years of music.

Steve said it was only the promo cover image and was likely to change.

I hope it does change as I don't think it makes an effective cover - better for a back cover or image inside the booklet. It does match many of John's lyrics, like you say, but compared to the covers of TPOE, C&B and TCM it's a bit poor as it is.
