Excellent pics Ash, but do you know if this event was publicised via Look North or any of the other local news programmes?

I think it's a great shame that so many of the region's artistic and cultural events receive little or no coverage and the somewhat trivial goings-on at St. James' Park and the Stadium of Light enjoy daily updates.

I've asked the same question of the BBC but they probably won't reply. Shame really.

Although this wasn't one of the four main light pieces, here it is anyway, taken on the same night.

Durham Cathedral At Night (Autumn Colours)

Cheers, smile

Love the Durham Cathedral shot, especially the reflection. The picture has a warm glow to it, especially useful for when the chilly nights get here.

Here are two more images of the River Wear at Durham which I captured tonight after the sun had gone down.
I hope you like them. smile

Yes Ken, I used a circular polariser on the second shot. The light loss was approx 2 'f stops' but I compensated with a longer shutter speed. When rotated, the polariser brings out the rich colours. A nice little bit of kit to have tucked away in the back-pack.

Apologies for the technical 'And sometimes boring' patter. shock

Great shots of River Wear and Durham Cathedral.....love the effects you've achieved with a colour filter/polariser.

I've been invited to take an hours trip in a helicopter over the forbidden city of Newcastle. I'm gonna hoy a sack full of horse manure out the hatch when we fly over Sid James' Park before settling down to some nice aerial shots.

Here's hoping for a clear day. Just glad the trip isn't over Middlesboro biglaugh

Photo's to follow, as and when...

So, you're not tempted to sell the sack of manure to them on the premise it's a solid right back? Goodness knows it could be no worse than what they have already...

Well it's all about timing, EG.
When the Magpies are 3 goals down to Sunderland after 30 minutes of our next local derby match, I could perform the manure 'Evacuation' approx 500 feet above the Newcastle dugout. When it hits 'Joke Kinnear' plum on the bonce he'll very likely turn to his number 2 (Chris Hughton) and say in his southern accent with as many swear words as possible...

"Fakkin 'El...I've bin given the fakkin' SACK and it aint even fakkin' half time yet, ya fakker"

biglaugh

But here, that aint a bad suggestion old bean. I just don't know if I fancy sittin' alongside a sack o' cack in yon chopper for best part of an hour. Then again, if av ada ruby the neet afore then that'll be what yon pilot will be experiencing. eek shock

Long live Dennis Smith & Malcolm Crosby. laugh

Thanks for the bit of techy info Ash. I now have one of those polariser thingys, and have tried it out on a few pictures of myself. Just a few head and shoulders pics, nothing special, just to try out the effects with said gadget. If i post a picture here, maybe you could help me figure why it highlighted all the bags n wrinkles. frown Im pretty sure i can look better with a few tweaks to the lighting etc. confused2

When he sees her & Dani in the shower - how soon will be before he sings "Itsy Bitsy" etc, if he hasn't done so already. Why did they choose David Van Day? I'd rather have seen Thereze Bazaar. Still a nice looking lady.

Of course, but she wouldn't have been anywhere near as funny as Mr Van Day when he done the HOLEY MOLEY bush tucker trial.
