Duncan, I know nothing about photography - infact, in the words of a great man [photography] 'this means nothing to me.....'

but I think your pictures are FAB!! Love the one of the deep red sky...'Visions in Red?' or 'Beneath a Spielberg Sky?'

Excellent stuff Duncan, especially for a beginner. We're hopefully going to be in Ireland again next year - which part of the country is Rossmore Forest in?

Edit: now found, near the border with Northern Ireland.

Thanks Pete,I can't believe the compliments I'm getting.Rossmore forest is on the outskirts of Monaghan town,Co Monaghan just south of counties Tyrone & Armagh, they are in N.I but although it's an Ulster county,Monaghan is in the republic,it's the same with counties Donegal & Cavan.Rossmore park is where the castle of lord Rossmore (famous for having hanky panky with Churchill's mammy) with was sited. All these photos were taken within a 4 mile drive from my house. The stone bridge and river are believe it or not,at the end of the 19 house cul-de-sac I live in.Thank you all once again for the kind comments

Would be interesting to know where they were taken too Duncan.

Thanks Voxers, didn't expect reactions like that so here goes. The snow covered trees St Marys Hill, it's the road leading up into my sons school "Gaelscoil Ultan" in Monaghan town. The waterfall,"yer gonna piss yerselves" Dublin zoo. The Snowy river 200 hundred yards or so from my house, it's the same river(Black water)as the earlier photos,at the bottom of the street I live in, just down stream a little. Many thanks for the interest and kind words once again,I've still got a lot to post, one I really like of an old house hiding behind trees, taken less than one hundred meters from the river. I hope you all like it when I get it posted.

It looks like a colour cast, Ian, but it works for me too. It adds to the shot in my opinion. I kinda thought 'Vienna picture sleeve' as soon as I saw it, which is a good thing. I love these new architectural shots of yours Duncan - I like this type of photography myself. Ireland looks like a good place to take the camera, certainly through your viewfinder anyway.

I look forward to your next instalment, Mr Knight. wink laugh

Thanks once again folks, the blue on that memorial was a tint I added to improve the photo by giving it a "cold" feel to it, I think it was an improvement as I thought at the time the pic needed more "emotion" as it was a nice sunny day when I took it, the light seemed to take character away from it.HANG ON SNASHY IS THAT YOU?

I used to be Snashy on here yes.

The reason I am I J S now is partly because Cerise had a problem of some kind re-registering me under my former name - can't remember what - so I chose to just use my initials instead. I also partly just fancied having a change of username as well. smile

I remember a while back there was a photographic thread suggested whereby people post pics that could be related to a song title.

Ash mentioned the memorial one looking like a Vienna cover, but another one could be Visions In Blue!!

Nice shots Duncan. Looks like you've been experimenting with your Macro setting on some of these, which is often a good idea. Keep them comin' squire! wink

Weather here is good this morning. Will be popping out after lunch for a bit of photography. If you're interested, I added a 'Spring' flavour entry to my blog page recently. It can be found by clicking the image on this page.

smile

Duncan, have you tried any low-light shots yet. Your camera should have a twilight setting amongst the exposure modes. Could be interesting. wink
