Today I've added 2 more galleries to my photography website. The first one is the OMD concert from Newcastle City Hall last Tuesday night. The photo's are nothing special, a bit grainy due to high ISO setting, but they're not too bad.

The second new gallery is
GREAT NORTH RUN 2008. I was in two minds whether to pop along and take some photographs but I thought my site needed some candid people shots, so off I went. The weather was great and so was the atmosphere. 52,000 people turned up for the race. I took photographs at different points along the 13 mile stretch, mainly capturing runners in fancy dress outfits. There are a couple of TV celebs on my slideshow of 52 images.
To view both slideshows, as well as other recent updates, follow the link below.
www.ashleycorr.com

In the meantime, here's a sneak preview of the Great North Run 2008 slideshow.
Cheers, Ash laugh

I see you're well aquainted with the social scene up here, H. Yes, don't look at some of the lasses up here for more than 2 seconds otherwise you'll be having a sudden unexpected chat with the pub carpet! :p

On a lighter note - some more photography.

This first shot was taken on Roker Pier in Sunderland, yesterday morning. The sunrise took place shortly after I took the photograph and I managed to get some decnt shots of that too. It was quite chilly, as expected, but I stopped off at McDonalds on the way home and got a nice coffee to warm me'sel through. Not forgetting the double bacon and egg McMuffin meal. lurve

The second shot was taken inside Penshaw Monument, an iconic landmark situated between Houghton Le Spring and Sunderland. It's only a few minuted drive from my home and I visit this place a lot to get the shots I want. The monument is lit up at night and best time to photograph it is about 30 minutes after sunset.

Well, I'm going to check the tide tables on the net and then go out for some more early morning shots, hopefully with a nice sunrise. If the sun shows up I'll post some more pics here.
Cheers. smile

There's been no snowfall where I live, Snashy.
I've been asked for some Autumn shots but it's been horrible and overcast up here all week. Also been busy mounting and framing my work for the Tourist Info Centre in Sunderland so I've had very little time to get out with the camera.

Having said that, I'll be out during the next couple of nights. As mentioned on another thread on EV, I'm doing some work for the BBC in Durham.
I'll let ya know how I get on. Thanking you, Mr Snashy. wink

Excellent pics Ash, but do you know if this event was publicised via Look North or any of the other local news programmes?

I think it's a great shame that so many of the region's artistic and cultural events receive little or no coverage and the somewhat trivial goings-on at St. James' Park and the Stadium of Light enjoy daily updates.

I've asked the same question of the BBC but they probably won't reply. Shame really.

Yes Ken, I used a circular polariser on the second shot. The light loss was approx 2 'f stops' but I compensated with a longer shutter speed. When rotated, the polariser brings out the rich colours. A nice little bit of kit to have tucked away in the back-pack.

Apologies for the technical 'And sometimes boring' patter. shocked

I've been invited to take an hours trip in a helicopter over the forbidden city of Newcastle. I'm gonna hoy a sack full of horse manure out the hatch when we fly over Sid James' Park before settling down to some nice aerial shots.

Here's hoping for a clear day. Just glad the trip isn't over Middlesboro biglaugh

So, you're not tempted to sell the sack of manure to them on the premise it's a solid right back? Goodness knows it could be no worse than what they have already...

Well it's all about timing, EG.
When the Magpies are 3 goals down to Sunderland after 30 minutes of our next local derby match, I could perform the manure 'Evacuation' approx 500 feet above the Newcastle dugout. When it hits 'Joke Kinnear' plum on the bonce he'll very likely turn to his number 2 (Chris Hughton) and say in his southern accent with as many swear words as possible...

"Fakkin 'El...I've bin given the fakkin' SACK and it aint even fakkin' half time yet, ya fakker"

biglaugh

But here, that aint a bad suggestion old bean. I just don't know if I fancy sittin' alongside a sack o' cack in yon chopper for best part of an hour. Then again, if av ada ruby the neet afore then that'll be what yon pilot will be experiencing. eek shocked

Long live Dennis Smith & Malcolm Crosby. laugh

Apologies for the technical 'And sometimes boring' patter. shocked [/b]
Thanks for the bit of techy info Ash. I now have one of those polariser thingys, and have tried it out on a few pictures of myself. Just a few head and shoulders pics, nothing special, just to try out the effects with said gadget. If i post a picture here, maybe you could help me figure why it highlighted all the bags n wrinkles. frown Im pretty sure i can look better with a few tweaks to the lighting etc. confused2
