Just noticed that the "pop goes the band" series on UK satellite TV station "living TV" that was announced a while ago has started to be shown
on Monday nights at 10pm

http://www.livingtv.co.uk/shows/pop-goes-the-band.php

( basically it sounds like an extreme makeover show for popstars desparate to try and turn back the clock )

doesnt give a date yet for the Steve Strange episode

Watched this last night. Dollar turned back 30 years by having their faces hacked to pieces by a plastic surgeon and a botox woman. Made me squirm to see the after effects. When the terrible swellings had gone 3 weeks later David looked different but worse and Theresa looked better but under lots of make up. If I was Steve Strange I would tell them to shove it! How do you get rid of a large beer belly? Made the plastic surgeon look really bad imo. "So you want to lose all signs of facial ageing and a large beer belly. No problem, I'll get my knives out." Nevermind dieting and exercise.

Well I watched this last night - loved the picture of Midge that they used!! nervouslaugh ) and did anyone else spot a rather anaemic looking Billy in one of the shots and I'm sure I saw Chris in some footage of them all stood outside the Blitz club - certainly one of the Kemps. Well, as far as I can see Rusty got some new gnashers and wore a slightly different colour. Steve however I was really impressed with how he took the exercise on board. Bless him. Anyone who can speak about themselves in the third person "Steve Strange doesn't go out looking like a clown" roflmao (and had we forgotten the white foundation there?) is a laugh. Fair play to 'em though.

I was more impressed by how they managed to go the whole programe without mentioning Midge, Billy and the rest of them at all ,and kept up the appearance that Steve & Rusty where solely responsible.

Aye, a neely choked on me Horlicks when Steve slipped off the treadmill eek . His fitness instructor shoulda advised him to press the 'Cool Down' button when he wanted to come off the machine - NOT the STOP button. roflmao roflmao roflmao

Hilarious. But yes, fair play to the pair of them for putting themselves through the 8 week programme. I bet they made a few bob in the process too. wink

I'm interested to know whether there's any likelihood that the club Rusty mentioned he'd like to run with Steve will ever happen.

Maybe they'll just cash the Living TV cheque and then go their separate ways for another 20 years, but it would be nice if they could give it a go - if it can happen for Midge & Billy there's hope for us all biglaugh )

Anyone in the know care to speculate??

Steve and Rusty have already held a couple of 'Blitz' nights in central London, over the past 6 months. Very successful they were too.

This programme was recorded yonks ago.

That's great - I'm glad it worked out well for them both after the programme. I knew Living TV were advertising the programme with Bucks Fizz a while ago, but wasn't sure how many they'd recorded before they decided to delay broadcasting the series.

If you don't mind I will try, I saw Strange try to re-create Visage, calling himself Visage2000, he was a mess, he insisted at one point on putting his own make up on, claiming he always done his own, it was every where it really was embarrassing to watch, also he claimed Fade to grey to be his song, he was an absolute joke, I felt so so sorry for him, but he really did waste himself with drugs, he really wasn't ready for this. I don't think Midge or Billy would ever want to be part of what I saw, especially after the carry on with Steve in Visage, he seemed to take the credit for everything, and it was neither his nor Rusty's to take.

Midge & Billy didn't fall out, Midge didn't want to be part of it any more, he told Billy if he wanted to continue with the name it was his, but poor Billy was left on his own, I don't' no how he felt, but I can imagine it was lonely,he tried to pull them back together, from what I remember, but there was no fall out. How could you fall out with Billy Currie, he's too lovable wink

Steve has just celebrated his 50th birthday with a party and DJ set by Rusty that was all that you would expect! And possibly more, thanks to the exceptional Rosemary. lurve

There is life in the old boy yet.
