For those of you that don't receive the Remember the Eighties email newsletter:

"BLANCMANGE will have their three studio albums; 'Happy Families', 'Mange Tout' and 'Believe You Me' reissued on September 1st in remastered and expanded editions. Blancmange meanwhile are working on new material although no release dates have been set."

Interesting news - if it happens. September is going to be a very expensive month by the look of it. laugh

I haven't got Happy Families on CD so I'll be adding that to the collection. Looks like I'll be crunching some more credit in September. wink

Can somebody help me out, was there a 12"/extended/different version of Waves? I thought there was one but it's not been included on the reissues.

I've got to say that I'm rediscovering Blancmange through these reissues as I'd sort of forgotten about them over the years. If there is one complaint I have about them is that there a bit too much "Feel Me" on the first disc, but not a massive complaint.

Oh, check out their myspace page there's a fantastic new track that includes bits of Kung Fu fighting.

Just read this so here goes.

There is a extended (re-mixed) version of Waves but it was only available as in import. The UK 12' had an extra track on it that the 7' didn't.

The version of Waves on the Edsel re-issue is not the original that was on the vinyl album but the re-mixed single version of the song. The difference is that they added all the string parts. The orignal version is a lot simpler and very sparce compared to the almost epic single version.

So this asks the question where did Edsel get this re-master from because it couldn’t have been the orignal master tape?

I have E mailed them about it asking why the orignal version was left off but unfortunatly they have not replied.

Liked the song more than the video. Too many flashing images for my liking.

If you haven't done so already, can I suggest you listen to the MySpace Spotty Dogg link. I only listened for the first time yesterday & really love what I have heard. "The Bard" is one of the best songs I have heard in a long time.

Don't take my word for it - go & give your buggerlugs a treat!!!! smile

I was really pleased to be able to purchase these. I'd picked up the Universal 'on demand' releases, but I've never been convinced of the longevity of CD-R media. These remasters are very welcome indeed as of course are the bonus tracks missing on the on demand versions.

The prospect of a new album is enticing, although there's always a very big danger that they will be unable to live up to the standards of their original material, or that they are simply going to end up sounding like a Blancmange tribute band.

i use to really like blancmange, Living On A Ceiling was a classic song back in the 80s, what ever happen to the keyboard player in the band / does anyone know by any chance, they were just like sparks or erasure - 1 singer / 1 keyboard player, also loved blind vision & waves which wore great songs aswell.

I was surprised to learn Blancmange were formed in Harrow & Stephen Luscombe - the keyboard player - was born in Hillingdon, 2 areas I know pretty well.

Pretty likely Stephen was born in the hospital where I used to do voluntary work.

Us West Middlesex denizens are spread far and wide, lol. Most at my school were born in Middx hospitals at either Hampton Court or Chiswick, and back to the real topic - BLANCMANGE are excellent; good to see them treading the boards. :p

From what I gather is Stephen Luscombe is the original keyboard player he is still involved. Miond you on the website I looked at it listed another former member so don't know what his role was.

Ian; they were originally a duo of Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe. I saw them support the Cure and others with that line-up.
