Hello!

I have finished work on my latest project - "Discovery".
As always I could go on tweaking forever, but despite its imperfections I'm very happy with it, and I think it's my most accomplished work to date and I still haven't bought myself a midi-slave!! One day...

Anyway the new album can be downloaded at:
http://www.thelightdream.net/music/discovery.htm

I've also updated and expanded the whole site. I have written more about the inspiration and background to each album and added biog and links pages. It's all at:
http://www.thelightdream.net/music/index.htm

Hope there's something you like!

Hi Alex

Thanks for bringing your site and music to our attention - very nice it is too!

Particularly liked the title track - has a touch of The Leagues' "Gordon's Gin" to it.. hope you take that as a compliment!

Thanks again from not very far away

Cheers Graeme! smile

Any slight comparison to early Human League is good in my books!
I kinda see what you mean about Gordon's Gin.

I downloaded the "Discovery" album, I like it. I dig those sweeping analogue-style pads that permeate the songs, it's very relaxing to listen to. "Alone" is my favourite I think, the piano and the pads gel together nicely on that one, makes me think of In The Nursery's soundtrack work.

Sound quality and production is very good, almost sounds like it has been mastered by pros. My only minor criticism is that some of the lead synths used, like on "Similarity Solution" and "Statistic Parallax", sound a bit thin and "digital", I would have put some effects on them like phaser, flanger or chorus to make them blend better with the pads in the background.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to download the sleeve artwork, is the link alright?

Thank you Valeriun!

You're right about the broken link for the artwork - damn, I missed that one! I'll get it sorted.

I don't know In The Nursery, but it sounds interesting. I guess you can tell I like my big, sweeping pads!

'Alone' was the final piece I made for the album and was one of my favourites, despite its simplicity - it's the simplicity that makes it I think.

I wish I had the time to perfect everything, as a lot of it needs putting into better synchronisation.

Like a lot of other bands In The Nursery also came out of Sheffield in the early 80's.

They've made some wonderful cinematic albums smile

I think I've found myself a sound and style now, which I'm pleased with. I'm really happy to hear you're anjoying my work.

...that reminds me, I need to fix that broken link for the artwork...

Cool.

Started working on my next project - more in the sound and style of 'Aura'. I'm happy with it so far.
