Hi!
I've just recorded a track based on a little idea that was in my mind for about 3 years. The result does not have too many similarities with the original idea besides the melody itself.

It's a very simple melody and only a short tune (2:34). Full of electronics and quite experimental guitars. I hope one cannot hear that I played old Amiga jump'n run games this weekend laugh .
Not ambitious at all, just fun.

The title "Nightflight" is a working title. I have no idea for a good title yet .

Be warned: the last 10 seconds are pure HORROR wink .

Nightfight (2.4 MB)

Great Nils. Lovely lead sound, brilliant guitars - love those short stabs of guitar. It sounds a bit "unfinished" - lots of space between the instruments and the drums are quite dry and clean. Could maybe put some pads in playing harmonies or maybe the off counter melody?

But this is catchy, well produced and (like Peter's tracks) I'm keeping a copy. laugh

Thanks, Flip!
In fact it really is not 100% finished. But I had no idea what' missing, yet. Only the fact that something is missing.... .

There will be an intro using the background melody (not the arpeggio) on piano and pad. That will "transform" into a more spheric piece and finally lead into this track.

Someone lies in bed (part a - piano), falls asleep (part b - spheric) and finally dreams a (bit strange) dream (part c - "nightflight"). And and the end he'll wake up (when the horrible beeps are heard).

I think I'll call the track "Rapid Eye Movement".

p. s. : my idea for a title would be "dreamcatcher" instead of "r.e.m." !!! wink

Hi there!
UPDATE

I've worked a bit on the sounddesign, especially of the drums and the arpeggio.
The track itself hasn't changed, but I think the overall "design" has increased.
But the first and second part still aren't done.

Hi Nils,

As always a real pleasure listening to your music and this is absolutely no exception. A nice track which reminds me a lot of the work of Mr. Currie. I like the chords and the sound has a nice warm athmosphere. Brilliant!

All the best Ole

Listening to it as I type, Herr Guenther, and it's to the expected high standard. Those "stabbing" guitar sounds are very effective and some of the keyboard work is very reminiscent of Mr.Currie. The beeping at the end has the same effect as my alarm clock going off, cutting into the effortless stream of dreams and rudely dragging me back into real world!

Many thanks for posting it here!
