Like Holger, I'm musically untrained. In January of last year I bought myself a keyboard to plug into my computer as soon as I realized that GarageBand could open a new creative door in my life.

I've been rather busy since last January, and have seventeen of my synth tracks posted here . Whether these tracks are good or bad or somewhere in-between, I had a lot of fun doing them, and will certainly keep at it. This is something I've wanted to do since I was a teenager - and it's cost me next to nothing. smile

Hi Major Crisis - thanks very much for listening! I'm afraid I'll have to decline your offer, mostly because I intend to record vocals over some of my tracks this Spring sometime... it's a very personal project for me. wink

Last but not least - welcome to the Ultravox Forum!!!

Doug, without compromise please listen, it's just experimental but let me know what you think about my voice, forget the lyrics.

Yes I know I am singing carelessly, I could do much better but this was just for fun and mostly to tell you that I enjoyed The Deep

I know, the lyrics are shitty, I surely could do much better but it's your music, your project and I respect that.
sad
Doug, don't be mad at me please.
The Deep is kind of haunting, it moved me.
But yes, I know I didn't dig it to its potential <img border="0" alt="[Shake head]" title="" src="graemlins/shakehead.gif" />

I wish you all the luck in your projects.

Major Crisis: I have to admit that I'm a little taken aback by your having downloaded the track & added your own vocals to it (especially when it was supposed to be available only by streaming audio, not authorised for download). But, if it has indeed moved you as you say, then I'm glad you've gotten some enjoyment out of it! I like that track but I'm not satisfied with the sound - it's too murky. My later remix wasn't that successful and I don't like the revised instrumentation, so I might tinker with it some more.

Sly: I've got about 25 tracks on my webpage; the link is at the beginning of this thread. There are various styles, and varying degrees of success & seriousness. Check 'em out and let me know what you think. Remember though, I've no musical training, and I only started doing this about 18 months ago, for my own personal enjoyment.

Sour Mash: Welcome to the Ultravox Forum. You could have plugged your music in your own thread instead of this one.

Love it Doug, some great tracks there! 'Venus' really reminds me of the excellent Myst series of games, very ambient and floaty. laugh

GarageBand - don'tcha just loooove Apple? lurve

You bet, Cerise! I've been a Mac user for 15 years. I have to use WinXP at work but at home, it's Apple all the way.

I'm glad you liked Venus; the Myst music semblance hadn't occured to me before you mentioned it, but you're right. The music in Myst was often more important to me than the visuals & gameplay. Very immersive & pleasurable aural scape. I guess my subconscious was pretty active when I was doing Venus!

let me apologise for not posting here more often but I have been very busy writing and doing other things.
Please, please, don't be mad at me Doug
I know it wasn't available for download, I listened to some of your tracks and for some unknown reason I began singing on top of The Deep confused
It was an instinct. This song got in me and I felt like singing.
I won't do that again, I promise.
I know that most probably you felt like I was intruding or even stealing your song but believe me when I say that my intention was to test my own capacity to sing something else that wasn't the Blues smile and your song was a nice experience.
