Having just read your web-site biography, I now know why you are so averse - almost pathologically so, it would seem - to "The Pink Thing": it's the accordion in ALL FALL DOWN , isn't it?! All those years of neglect, and it's still there, tormenting you with its folksy vibe, triggering all sorts of terrible synapses in your amygdala formation whenever its tones creep into popular culture, providing the harmony line to thigh-slapping torment and despair!

Since you mention the folk songs of your homeland, one of my favourite CDs - and it has been for a while now - is Die schoensten deutschen Volkslieder sung by Peter Schreier - really rousing and stirring stuff, not an accordion to be heard, which just fills me with the urge to stride off into the forest with a song in my heart and a buxom, flaxen-haired wench on my arm.

I am yet to listen to much more of your output than what I've heard from the Covers' Competition, as my download speed is rather low and my computer doesn't seem to know what to do with mp3 files. If the work is of the same creative standard as your "Vienna Revisited", then I'm missing a treat.

Hi Österreicher II!
Nice Avatar, looks like the Alm-Öhi from "Heidi" smile .

Well, no, the accordion is no reason. In fact "All Fall Down" is one of the few songs I like from that album, it's just no Ultravox tune for me.
Lots of fantastic irish/celtic folksongs use accordion. You know tollbooth from this forum? He produced the album from Helen Turner where great influences of celtic music can be heard, including accordion.
As I think about it: is there really an accordion appearing in "All Fall Down"?

I never liked german folkmusic, but of course there are some quite good songs existing. But I really don't know many of those... . Peter Schreier..... don't know him yet. Is it an older CD?

If You want I can send You a CD with some of my music. Just send me Your adress and give me some time to burn the CD and print the artwork wink . As for Your question: of course in my opinion my own music is far better than my Vienna remix wink . But You have to see/listen yourself I think wink .

By the way: germans nickname the austrians as "Ösi", so maybe below Your Avatar should be written "Ösi II" wink . But I don't know if this is political correct... .

New music online!

The Chase

It's an action-theme with a driving beat and lots of guitar-work. Again I used a wonderful freeware drummachine, the "Hotstepper". At first I wanted to use this melody for something oriental, but it also works good this way!

Here it is (appr. 5,4MB)

Hi Nils,

Great work!
You mentioned a freeware drummachine - Do you have a link so I could try it out?

All the best

ThankYou very much, Olaf! Any chance to play it on Your radio?
And - of course I would love to have a band, but since now I haven't met anyone in Bremen who would join a band of the style I imagine.... .

But.....please listen to the ogg-file I've uploaded, the mp3 sounds crap in comparison. Just noticed that yesterday... .

The link is:
"The Chase" as ogg-file
