Hi guys

As those of you who were at Paul and Pip's nuptials back in February will know, Don and Mike from Monument and myself have teamed up to form a new electro/covers project called Party Fears Three. So far we've done a couple of weddings and our first offical public gig was last month supporting 2-Tone legends The Beat in Edinburgh. Off the back of that, we're now pleased to announce our first headlining gig here in Edinburgh. It's in just over a month's time and is going to be held at The Citrus Club, which will be familiar to those of you who have travelled north to see the Monument boys play there.



In terms of what to expect, we cover a wide range of material from the early to mid eighties period (more or less) but although we take a lot of trouble to ensure many of the sounds we use are evocative of the original material, for the most part these aren't just straight covers - many of the songs feature new arrangements and/or come in extended versions. As well as a good helping of the classic tracks from the time, we also like to include the odd hidden gem which those of you who know their synth music may well recognise but may also think 'blimey, haven't heard THAT one for a while!' As well as the sounds, our show also includes syncronised lights and videos for that complete eighties experience. All in all, we hope to put on a show that fans of the eighties and electronic music in general will enjoy and won't hear anywhere else!

Being in Edinburgh, we know this isn't something that will be easy for many of you to get to but if you are able to (and don't forget, Edinburgh during the Festival is a great place to be in August), it would be great to see you and we promise a great night of music for you!

Incidentally, picking up on something mentioned over in the Monument forum, I can assure you Don would be here to post this himself if it were not for the fact he's currently away in Cyprus with his family, but he'll be back soon and will be noising you all up I'm sure about our latest venture. I should also mention that this doesn't mean Monument are in any way shape or form disbanding, so don't worry there!

Thanks for the invitation! I'd really love to see you guys perform but...I'm flying to my parents' on 15th early morning (FROM HERE that is - tsss!), and by then I'll have had too much travelling for my taste (Belllgium and England), so no matter how much I'd love to be back in Embra and see you guys, I guess I'll have to postpone it to some other time...

HOWEVER, I hope Don is relaxing well in Cyprus (and not falling asleep underneath the sun, at 38 degrees Celsius or more) and that Mike and you are rehearsing with great joy and ambition. Bet the gig will be marvellous and that peeps from all over the place can assist!!

I'd rather take an interest in what guys like you, Monument, Spottydogg etc associated with this site are doing as opposed to a load of tripe that seems to flood the charts nowadays.

If yer in town for de Edinburgh Festival, check us out....we are quite good, do not take my word for it...see for yourself!

Late afternoon and it's up the A1(M) to Edinburgh for this one. What a great gig! Got to the Citrus Club around 8.45pm and noticed Don having a quick tab outside the entrance. He had no idea we were traveling up for the gig and it was worth the trip just to see the expression on his face when we arrived

The gig itself was excellent and the place was packed out. The band went down really well as they breezed through their set of 80's electronic classics. Great sound and arrangement, with the odd 'Twist' here and there. Mikes voice was spot on - almost as good as Steve's dancing behind the keyboards and Don's playing was faultless too - particularly impressed with his 'Staircase Piano' on Vienna. Billy Currie has serious competition!

The visual display was excellent too - Steve Adam deserves a lot of credit for this. The show was filmed so it will be interesting to look back on this one at some point.

Lastly, as well as meeting up with Don, Mike and Steve again, it was great to chat to Davy B and the very lovely Sonia (one time regular on here and half of the 'Thelma & Louise' double act)
Travelled back after the gig - got home at 3.15am

Ash & Billy, we were all stunned when you guys showed up matey, especially me hanging about outside the venue when you two guys come sauntering round the street corner...(had to take me gregory's off & rub me eyes!)

Aye, the Pig was on the soft drinks all neet - driving duty and all that. Had to knock back the free After Shock's that came roond on a big tray, more than once
Mind you, ye gerra lush 'Haggis n' Jockey's Whips' at yon Kingfisher eaterie roon tha corner from Citrus.

Atleast a woke up this mornin' all fresh. Not like the last trip to Embra in April when a was well and truly 'Donald Ducked'
