It seems to me that the wholesome and audially pleasing thing that is the music of Ultravox is sadly the preserve of what I am now forced to concede are "older persons" - or, more accurately, less hopelessly young persons - such as myself, with only the occasional more enlightened youth picking up the guttering torch and giving it the oxygen of enthusiasm to keep it glimmering in the musical darkness of the current era.

Therefore I am suggesting that it is in the interests of our favourite band that we all endeavour to interest younger folk, and what better way than a live demonstration by MONUMENT to whet their appetites and set their pulses racing. To this end, I believe we should try to bring as many late teenagers to the next gig as possible, and I myself shall be working tirelessly to persuade young ladies in industrial quantities to accompany me to Newcastle (or wherever) to this end (amongst others). I wish to record this here, now, as I may come to rely on it later in Court as part of my defence.

Aye, looking forward to meeting a few more of the Famous Forum Folk. I'm looking forward to being back in Newcastle, too. I spent a great year living in Alnwick whilst working there a couple of years back and have happy memories - although my very first memory of Newcastle was one cold night when I arrived on the train and a lass wearing nobbut seaonally adjusted underwear was beating six bells out of her cowering and hapless hulk of a man. I think he'd insulted one of her chips or summat, but he was really taking a pounding.

Thank you, 2. After being cruely sidelined a mere 48hrs after my first (admittedly rather cryptic) posts hereabouts, I had half vowed to myself that I wouldn't bother anymore. However, your eloquence, wit and reminiscences of one of my favourite cities (along with Ashley's fabulous pic of the Millennium Bridge), have suitably reinvigorated me.

OE2 well said hun, I think you are right. Monument are a great band and I think our younger generations would thoroughly enjoy them.

Gilgamesh I dont think anyone has sidelined you. If you are referring to the highjacking comment, you are new and were not meant to know. We all forget sometimes that the Greenroom is the place to faff about smile Hope all is well with you and I look forward to seeing you again sometime soon.

Sir Piglet, my sweet, I am always impressed with your pics. Looking forward to having a laugh with you in NC

In Newcastle, this is considered foreplay.

In Sunderland, it is considered a marriage proposal.

In Washington, it's a sign that they're brother and sister considering marriage.
