Don - thanks for the compliments. Although we did get some comments next morning re: the unnecessary ad-hoc karaoke version of 'The Song (We Go)', the hotel asked us to pass on thanks to 'the rock Gods you (we) asked back last night....' for not trashing the place.

eek

Thanks also (to all) for helping us on our weekend 'no alcohol' policy and for showing restraint on keeping it/us down to two nights and the basic eleven cans of 'Tennants' lighter fuel.

wink

The Monument gig was great (controversially here, I would say the JF gig the following night was too short and that he didn't do enough material with 'tune', but that's just my opinion). It was wonderful to see you all. Oh, and to get back home alive.

Thank God for the relative calm of the office and being able to get to sleep here...

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />

All the best kids. Stay safe.

EG

Cheshunt last year was the furthest so far.... There was some talk over the weekend of trying to get something around Cardiff since I've got some relatives there and we haven't done anything in the south west. laugh

Well I was the first to post a reply re: the weekend, but I fear it is in completely the wrong thread, so here it is:
Well, we got home at 4 this morning! Just aswell I didn't stay and talk any longer!
What can I say guys, FANTASTIC! Big well done! My ears still haven't recovered yet,lol
I know it will be a while before anybody reads this because you're all off having fun at John Foxx today but......
Shirl, great to finally catch up(ish).

Caroline, great to finally meet you, maybe we can actually have a proper conversation next time!? Have a safe journey home.

Stevie/ Exile, thanks for the drink mate, nice to meet you (sorry I called you Davey, you just look like one)

Thomas, Nice head mate! Like you said, it's nice to put a face to the name!

Scott, nice to meet you too, safe journey home, maybe the missus will come next time?!

Mike, REALLY REALLY sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you properly, would love to have had a blether with you! Nice tash! think you should keep it!

Roy, thanks for the reassureance, I know we'll get there (eventually)

Don, I'm really sorry I got dragged away mid conversation! I wasn't being ignorant, I'll email you or give you a tinkle in the next few days ok?! You take care of you and yours!!! (hugs)

Chappie, I didn't even get a chance to say hello properly.... again I wasn't being ignorant, I'm a bit pissed off we didn't chat actually.. think there was a big hurry towards the end because of the hour and a half journey home. (John had been up since 4am and already completed a 12 hour shift before we arrived, poor bugger) hopefully next time!

Pip & EG, GREAT to see you again after all this time, you seriously brightened up my evening, feel like I did nothing but laugh (you've missed you vocation in life mr standup!)

And a big shout out to DANCING HOMER, who had my sides sore with laughter, glad you enjoyed yourself mate, whoever you are!

I would just like to say, I had a little tear in my eye when you dedicated Visions in Blue to Ari...

If i've missed anybody, I'm really sorry... the wee girl taking pictures, who I spoke to for quite a while... I didn't get her name: hope we get to see the end product & the girl behind the bar (she was ace!)

Can't wait for the next one, hopefully it'll be a wee bit nearer us (nudge nudge, wink wink). Well done guys!

Sorry about that, but I don't want to be the odd one out all lonely on the other thread! lol biglaugh

Not even if you paid me... The only reason it came off the next afternoon was that I wasn't sober enough (or indeed awake) to shave it off in the morning...

That would be Tommy's wife, Colette... wink

To all the MONUMENTALISTS: I am so, so sorry that I didn't make the gig up in the land of Whisky and midges: at 16:30 HRS on the day in question I was limping out of the mounatin fastness of Andorra with an empty header tank and a dodgy water pump in a venerable Mk III Fiesta, rapidly losing altitude and credibility but holding course as steady as I could. I'd already driven the length of France and had greater trials ahead. Even with favourable winds I simply wouldn't have got to Glaschiu in time.

The responses to the wee soiree as expressed in this column are no less than I would imagine apt, having myself feasted mightily at the trough of culture that was the Cheshunt gig: on home ground you can have but more awesomelier played. The vibe must have been positively . . . erm . . . vibrant.

Sorry, too, to have missed meeting everybody's favourite uncles, Colin and Danny, and tested out la Botana's theory of doppelganger properly!

Next time . . . One Day . . . I raise my glass, gentlemen!

Davy, Mike, Don (thanks for the synth tour, mate), Tommy, AK, Paul, Caroline, Shirl, Helen and John - it was great to meet you all. Sorry I didn't get talking to EG and Pip - next time.
