Hi Guys, just a wee update to let you know how things are progressing with regards the band

Rehearsals went rather well on saturday
We've got 99% of the Syndrum solo done for 'The Voice', so that should be finished real soon & just to get my Odyssey serviced & into action for the synth lead solos & we're done on that one......phew! nervouslaugh

Also heard from our pal Rodney today saying that Peter Saville is going to let us use the artwork for the band logo's, backdrop etc! laugh

Regards...
Sleepy wink

Shelly, not such a silly question....At the moment we are busy rehearsing and learning the songs, so you probably wouldn't want to hear them in their current state (although a few songs from the first rehearsal did escape....) eek
Rest assured that when we get them to a decent standard we will make some of the stuff available for folks who can't make it to the impending gig(s)... wink

smile I am also interested in getting a CD. I live in Pittsburgh, but most of my music comes from England. It sounds a lot better there than here! England always had it better in fashion and music, art, you name it. America is just so lame!

We had another wee rehearsal yesterday.
I was rather hung-over from saturday......OOOOOPs

We got down the 'Hymn' chord structure, & played around with it for most of the day, coming along nicely wink

Next rehearsal saturday.....5 hours! shock

Michael's vocals were absolutely brilliant! wink

smile - I love HYMN! I would love to hear how you guys do some of these Ultravox songs. I can't imagine how you do it. I'd love to see a live show, but transportation is a bit high priced. frown

I know you will all do great! I'll get the CD and then you can tell me when the DVD comes out! What does Ultravox think of you guys? Did they let you know? They should. I think anyone to attempt there stuff has to be excellent. I can't imagine Britney Spears trying "Serenade" icky nervouslaugh

Worse: Michael Jackson! cussing

We've got a rehearsal tomorrow in Glasgow from 10am-3pm....but no drummer!......Warren???

Gav starts his new job on monday & has got a lot before hen, so needs must wink

I'll be taking my trusty old Roland CR78 with me, we'll be tightening up a few things here & there

It would be great if Warren could get involved.....(Wishful thinking eh!) or even some advice on how we're going to get round the sequencing live thing.....don't trust them myself, manys a time I've been banging away on he synths & the bloody sequencers decided to throw in the towel leaving me with a heart attack!!!! <img border="0" alt="[Pissed]" title="" src="graemlins/pissed.gif" />

I used to work with a guy whose father was Ben Kelly, he worked with Peter Saville on the artwork for the first OMD album.

Don't suppose anybody is bothered much but it makes me feel more important wink

Right you lot, stop being so impatient wull ye! mad

Kids, jobs, other commitments etc etc etc cussing
There's no point in doing it, unless it sounds 100% the way we want it to sound & the rest of the guys will back me on this

It takes time to learn & rehearse the songs & put our stamp on it!

We are still pondering on how we are going to use the live side of sequencing......Roy, thanks for the advice.

unfortunately i let the side down at the last minute at the weekend there due to my good half's Granmother had suddenly passed away, but these things are bound & will happen, it also does'nt help matters that 75% of the band are on the west coast & there's lil ole me on the east, but such is life eh.

I will guarentee this though guys, when the time comes we'll be sounding feckin' brilliant!

Put it another way you'll see us before Cerise gets the bloody website finished!!!!.....sorry m'dear couldnae resist it pal!!

We are alive and well, still rehearsing as often as possible. We are recording some songs tomorrow and by way of a 'taster', hope to upload a couple of them sometime next week for your perusal. The set is getting there and I'm sure, if you attend any of our gigs, you will enjoy our selection. As a matter of interest, if t-shirts were made available would you buy one? I'll maybe set up a poll.

Have a bloody good weekend, or a bloody arse in CONNYS case (injunz related)

Connza, I knew that the last statement may have been taken in the wrong context, thats why I specified. I know only too well the after effects of a Phaal. When we eventually meet up the common denominator shall prevail. Me, you, Sleepmeister, Exile and all who enjoy, shall get together and sample the delights of the Glasgow Curry trail (believe me it's the best) then when I get on stage with Monument, the distortion sounds on the Odyssey might not rely on the fingers of Sleepy, my ass could probably replicate Billys trademark sound. Looking forward to meeting each and every one of you.

POLL: Would you buy a Tee shirt?

All the best Davy B

Davy/Mike/Sleepwalker - very good indeed. Keep it going lads. smile Thanks for posting the link and letting us listen to some samples. Looking forward to the gig.
The website states that you got permission off Chris and Warren. I know Warren has been on the forums recently but does this mean you guys have spoken with or e-mailed Chris lately??
Also, what's the full Monument line up and who plays what?

Mike, Thanks for the feedback. I wrote to each member of the band through the EV "contact the band" thingy and got a reply direct from Warren. Chris's reply was relayed through Cerise. Here is his simple reply.

"Hi David
No objections or problems with your project, good luck and I hope it all goes well and you enjoy it.
cheers
chris"

(hope you dont mind Chris)

Not much, but we are still thankful of the reply, we still await confirmation from Midge and Billy. As Mike L say's these snippets were recorded in rehearsal and are done in one take but I can assure you the live sound is very much there, and has, for want of a better expression "the balls, power and dynamics" that you would expect.

As far as the line up goes, well here goes.....

Sleepwalker:- Synthesizers and Electronic Percussion Backing Vocals.

Me:- Bass Guitar, Synthesisers, CR78 x 2, Electronic Percussion, Backing Vocals.

Keep up the good work lads, and don't rush it. wink
