Chappie, you obviously haven't been there long enough to realise it should be "all y'all" when talking to many people since "y'all" is singular... wink

As for accomodation, I expect we will be staying in the same place if:
a: There are still rooms available.
b: They don't remember us from last time.

See y'all and all y'all and all that...
excited

Hiya guys,
Sorry I've not been around. I've replied on the Monument forum..... hoping to get there but finances are tight. Would love to go, but travelodge rooms have gone up to 39 quid. Getting there could be a problem as well.... so unless I can get a lift and share with someone, it's unlikely I'll get there...... bugger really! Sure you'll all have a fantastic time without me! wink kiss LOL

Hi Tara smile

It's some way from the station to the Limelight. There is a taxi rank outside the station though, and it would cost about 5.00 or so to the venue. Looking forward to seeing you again

Hi Helen. Hope you can make it to the gig. It would be great to see you there. I'm planning to come up to Edinburgh the following day as Kieran Docherty is playing at Leith. Let me know if you want to go along with me.. he's well worth seeing.

Yes it was a good program,I've seen quite a few of those tributes live at the Robin Bilston over the last 10 years.

I want to come up.Depends if I get back from a business trip to Portsmouth at a good time.

If I come I'll probably be on me tod since Kerry's wife wont let him out. frown

It will be a last minute thing depending on the M6 traffic on the day really.Love to meet up if I do come.

What time are you actually on stage?

It is with deep regret that I have to say that I won't be able to be in Crewe for the Monumental occasion. Work has conspired against life to once again deprive me of the heady drug of good music played live and well kickin', innit.

I hope the evening goes with an appropriate level of pomp and magnificence and that the fine ales of Crewe run as free as mighty rivers. Or something. I've no doubt it'll be excellent and I'm annoyed not to be able to be there.

Incidentally, should anyone be in the vicinity of the Clachan, near London's Oxford Street tubing station, on Tuesday, 9th October, they could be worse advised than to venture upstairs for 19:00 Hrs. There, the chaser after culture in the form of short stories read by professional performers will find a veritable cauldron of tales upon the theme of "Ghosts and Monsters", all presented under the banner of LIARS' LEAGUE, purveyors of culture to the knowing and discerning. It costs nobbut three sterling pounds to enter, and to enjoy thereafter is free. Oh, and I'm reading.

Cheers Don. Unfortunately I'll now have to give the Kieran Docherty gig a miss now - Just looked on the National Rail enquiries, and cheapest they can do for me is 45. Adding that to the cost of gig and b&b has pushed the cost to around three figures, and that's before food and drink. Thanks anyway, and see you on Thursday.. It promises to be a good one by the look of things..

Ken,

I have a few pictures, which didnt come out that well.

I have a quicktime of them playing Hiroshima Mon amour but its over 100Mb,which is too big for youtube.I've had a go at converting down to a smaller size but the sound goes haywire.

They did 3 Foxx numbers, the afore mentioned as well as Slow Motion & Quiet Men.

I cant remember the setlist order but they played the following in no particular order:-

Hiroshima Mon Amour (started with it I think)
Slow Motion
Quiet men
Lament
Visions in Blue
SleepWalk
New Europeans
Vienna
All Stood Still
One Small Day
Dancing with tears in my eyes
They did a song from Uvox (Same old Story?)
We stand alone (I have video of this)

They closed with an encour which was The Voice closing down with the drum pads, which I have some shaky footage of.

One of the band members tripped over the drumpad cable & send the drum pad flying at the very end.

I will post some stuff when I can sort it out.

Cheers Maryanne,

My videos cant do them justice, they do a damn good job.

Only track that I thought needed improvent was Lament.

The FoxxVox stuff sounds just like the MidgeVox versions I have a copy of somewhere.

There you go Ken,thats my review!

Well you could have done a bit more Brian. smile

From the setlist to the video clips, it looks like the gigs are improving each show.

Would have liked to have heard the Foxxvox tracks at the time, especially
'Hiroshima Mon Amour' as i dont think the've done that one before.

Wish i had been there even more now.....

Great clips though, and thanks for the review.

Thanks Brian for uploading the videos.

It all sounds great but Hiroshima is a particular favourite of mine. Davy - that bass is excellent, really deep and loud. From what I heard that was an excellent version lads, nice one.

Sorry I missed the gig. I promise I will see you one day. It will probably have to be a weekend for me though. smile

Cheers Guys.

I think my fave from the night was We stand alone followed by the 3 Foxxvox tunes.

We atdn alone was good enough to make me start playing Rage in Eden again, its been a few years since I heard it.

I'm sure I've not remembered the whole set list.
Did they do Mine for Life & Man of 2 Worlds as well?

Can someone who went please correct me.

Cheers Mike,great night.

I'll try & bring re-inforcements next time.

Thursday night is a difficult night to get people out though. The M6 was a complete bitch that night as well, took me nearly 2 hours to get 10 miles.
Would have hung back after the show but I had a long drive back to Tamworth.

I think I may have missed a track or 2 when I went to the bar.

Thanks again to Chris Curran & his wife for keeping me company all night.

Still notable by its absence was Thin Wall,I'm hopeful for next time.

Brian

Well done chaps - top gig and the usual quiet and thoughtful aftershow for the benefit of Travelodge guests !! bemused

I really enjoyed the gig and good to see the set evolving (although a shame that The Thin Wall didn't make it this time icky ). Especially excellent was Mike's beatbox on Vienna eek

Great to catch up with the Monument hordes before and after and please do it again soon.

Don, I'll be in touch soon.

Ciao

Thanks for alll the positive comments folks.

Mike, thanks for the bass comments....

Brian - if we inspired you to dust down and listen to RIE then we must be doing something right.. It's funny, I enjoy playing the RIE songs although they were thought as the most difficult to reproduce.

Cheers to all, Davy

Still to confirm the 29th Nov in Greenock.
