*sigh* No, not yet. We went to the one place that we'd seen cheap flights to London before and the prices went up. So we're still shopping around for good rates. I'll be making some enquiries this weekend. If we were living in, like, Toronto or Vancouver, we'd be fine!! banghead

Another good turn out by the boys - a slight problem with the sound was the only distraction to an otherwise great set. Midgevox & Dadge, sorry I missed you. Ari, Sassy, Isabel & Grant - what a great couple of days, thank you all for coming along.

I have a few obsevations from the night.

Tommy - where does he get the energy? Drums his heart out for an hour and half, doesn't break sweat. 60 Mins later fast asleep in the bar. Totally rock and roll. lmao

Don - I don't think I've ever laughed quite so much at repititions of the same joke as I did on Thurs. Two words for you - Uuuultravox! and Boiiinngg! lmao lmao

Mike & Davy - Great to see you both again - get some more gigs lined up for July / August and I'll be back again.

Ari - hope you had a great day in London and got back in time for a few MayDay beers - see you soon my friend.

Paul.

Hi.

Just got home. Five minutes ago. What an exellent trip. Thank you all for participating. And special thanks for you Paul, for everything.

Paul, I had a great day in London. Bought some CDs, leather jacket, ate well, bought souvenirs for boys, met nice couple from Zurich in bar....and so on. I slept almost whole flight to Helsinki, and now I am ready for the night

Talk to ya later.

Cheers, ari wink

Oh wow... I got home about 1 hour ago and would like to just say

THANK YOU and WELL DONE

to everyone, especially PAUL - who made it all as easy and uncomplicated as I love things to be. Have a safe flight back tomorrow! laugh

SASSY - it was good you came. So happy to have met you! Sorry about the 30 quid. And sorry to have kept you "waiting"... biglaugh

MRS. X - you were there with us all the time! We swear! You will have to come and see them. I'll do my best to join in (it will depend on whether I by then have a contracted job and how available I am).

DADGE and MIDGEVOX - sorry I didn't see you.

Apart from that, I had a great day in central London yesterday. Met a friend I hadn't seen in 13 years, went with him to British Museum, and also got my PG bags and scones and ginger jam. What more do I need?

My chin is intact again. But I'll have to have my nail repaired tomorrow. I hope I can reply to my e-mails soon (?) confused

Love
Isabel

I feel like I missed a life-affirming event, and will move Heaven and Earth to get to the next English gig - which, hopefully, will be somewhere near London, wot is where I do living at near (a financial necessity, not an aesthetic choice, I assure you). Really glad that the event went well and that it seems a good time was had by all. I'm jealous of you, and shall now descend into a well of bile and regrets to fling curses at the weeping green walls.

Sounds like a sensible idea. There are a fair few folks from this neck of the woods, so I'm sure a decent and appreciative mob could be assembled to lay our wreaths at the Monument. Plus it's convenient for all those flying in for the gig from far-flung places like Germany, Spain, Finland, Canada, Newcastle . . .

Actually... in Crewe we agreed to updating some lyrics...

So from now on it's - to name a random example:

If the STRAP is high against you (...)

(yes yes, I know, it's not quite perfect as the preposition is missing... but... WE ALL HAVE IT IN OUR MINDS NOW, DON'T WE?!)

lmao lmao lmao

" so i apologise to anyone i may have upset with no conditions. ie Flip and others in John foxx. but i also support Mrs X as she was just being lighthearted. today i been enjoying "one small day" and "reap the wild wind" as i find hunan warmth and comfort in them. cheers grant

Grant Grant Grant... It wasn't me telling you to shut up about strap ons and sex toys so why the constant dissing? Except to curry favour with your "mates"...of course. smile

If making inaccurate little comments about me as you seem to keep doing makes you somehow feel better about yourself, then please carry on - really! Do PLEASE. I take you about as seriously as "Sassy" and that's saying something...

OK, I'm not getting involved in this, but here's a little friendly, non-partisan word of advice:

If you don't like someone, ignore them! Don't let them get the better of you! There is no reason for people here to get at each other's throats since, as far as I know, we're all here for the same reason. (And I should hope that you all know what that reason is.)

I know not everyone can get along, but if those people just stayed out of each other's way, then this would be a more pleasant place.

That's all I have to say. Thank you.

Mrs. X

Well said Tara !!! wink

Personally a wouldn't take anything on here too serious as it's easy to post THIS and THAT. If we were all worked in the same office, factory, shop or whatever....I'm sure people would be very different toward eachother [including me] wink

Stay happy folks eh, for every minute you're annoyed you lose 60 seconds of happiness.
You only get one crack at this life....make the most eh........... wink

Now, where's me borrle opener wink

Well, let me please just stipulate that I am on no-one's side in this matter. I just don't like constant bickering. Sure, I could just not read it, but this thread in particular used to be a fun thread. Then it went all wonky. I didn't like where it was heading so I decided to step in. It's true that if we were all in the same room together in person, things would probably be a lot different. (Well, I hope so!) But I guess since we're all hiding behind our PCs we can say whatever we want, because we don't have to face the people we're addressing. Do you honestly think you could come to blows like this in person?

I'm just asking to be in a friendly environment. That's why I joined this forum in the first place. It was a friendly environment of people who love Ultravox. I'd like it to stay that way, and I don't think I'm alone in this!

This thread was always intended to be light and of good humour for those who went to the Crewe gig...as usual certain people on this forum have chosen to take things out of context and shoot their mouth off when they know not of what they speak. The children I work with are better behaved and they are considered to have behavioural problems. Can you not at least TRY to act like adults banghead

Hey! What's that news, woman?! Sounds exciting!! I'm off in a few minutes for a walk and a Tequila Sunrise or a Long Island Ice Tea, cos I haven't been out all week end. But I might as well check later on with you, if I don't get home too late?

excited

As for the bad vibes in this forum, I immediately request some positive ones to balance them out.

BTW: I got good news, too (even though they are nothing in comparison):

Yippiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! I have just been able to walk downstairs "properly" without pain, when I went for a swim!!! The hobbling as such disappeared a couple of days ago. Tomorrow, my orthopedist (he flirted with me last week!!) will evaluate the "magnetic resonance" (it's a complex y-ray session) tomorrow.

AND: my power point presentation is nearly ready (so I can start looking for an adequate job from tomorrow on), I am really amazed. Didn't know I had any creative talents apart from... wink

CP: I loved your reply earlier on! You should have seen the fun we had - not in an office etc. - but in a car!! laugh

Well said Grant. I think that's all Olaf, Chappie (and me in my sometimes blunt way) were asking for.

To anyone else:-

Olaf - totally agree. This site did indeed used to be a very peaceful place for many years where everyone respected each other. It would be very nice for it to return to that state.

Tara - well put.

Ash - I totally agree with you (now did you really expect me to say THAT? wink ). The written word is a powerful tool that in less than careful hands quickly becomes a tool for abuse.

Perhaps you should revisit your curry tales - they seemed to raise a laugh with enough people...

"Sassy" - you proved on this thread you couldn't use the same advice you patronisingly told me I should use a few weeks ago.

I'm quite happy to ignore you as long as you ignore me. In fact, I would really welcome it.

Lava - sorry to hear you've been incapacitated and I'm extremely glad you're on the mend.

Good to end on a positive note. smile

Lets see here Mr. Flip you had a go at me for something you know nothing about and then you have the cheek to give me a hard time.

I would also be happy if did not have to deal with you at all, if you welcome that, then dont post anything directed at me. Is that to hard for you to comprehend, or do you resemble the scarecow that much?? confused

I will take your advice however and end on a positive note...

Lava hun, I am so glad your leg is getting better, before you know it you will be right as rain and able to join us in London for the Monument gigs, email me... miss chatting. frown

Haway man Sleepy, it's only a band at the end of the day. You're doing well, keep it that way. I wouldn't let it bother ye whether 'Certain' peeps turn up or not. No-one is under any obligation to go....therefore don't take offence to 'Absent Friends'. Just enjoy it man, I would.

Now, back timee cocoa... wink

Yeah, I'll speak to ya, water under the bridge now and you admitted yourself you were out of order to say what you did a couple of weeks ago on here. I deleted the thread to spare your blushes wink .

I haven't been put out in the slightest [If ya referring to me confused ]. Dinnat assume cos certain people don't attend the gig that they're not supportin' the band. Az only speakin' for me'sel mind you. It seems yer tryin' ti concoct a 'them and us' situation when there's really no need. I'm sure the band will go on and become a stronger unit with a stronger following.......with or without 'Certain' people from this forum.

Sassy - I'll leave you with the last insult aimed at me as I knew you wanted it. Green eyed monster indeed... biglaugh Ta ta.

Sleepy - dunno what your problem is. To be honest, you behaved like such a prat last year you put me right off seeing Monument. There was an outside chance of me getting up for the 1st gig but why should I spend all that dosh after all the grief I got on here when you wanted "a laugh"? At the end of the day there were other things that were more important.

Crewe on a Thursday? Yeah, like that's do-able from here when I'm working the next day.

You come anywhere near here (or possibly north/central London) and I may well come along. Having done the tribute band thing a long time ago I would genuinely be interested.

Then again, you'll no doubt say your rant about non attenders wasn't aimed at me in particular in the 1st place won't ya? Piggy's right - take a chill pill; you don't do the promotion of Monument any favours at all. In a band = act professional and don't say anything controversial. That way you don't piss off anyone and attract people to your cause. Simple really.

I realise that this is nothing to do with me, and I shall probably be told to mind my own business, but there you go!!

Guys, is it THAT important to have the last word? You've both offered to ignore each other, and it seems that you've both accepted.. but for some reason neither of you want to let go.

Maybe you should try stopping... right now...

I've found that, in my own private life, when I've been involved in an argument, that gets out of hand, the most powerful and mature thing is just to stop, and not to worry about getting the last shot in... it's quite a liberating feeling.. and given the fact that this is a public forum, (and like school children we will all gather round to watch a fight!) you'll show everyone else that you're both mature adults.. and I say this as someone who struggles with the 10 year old that lives inside me!

Please give it a try?

Cheers, Slo'

Gee, I thought I was going to be ignored from now on - and I subsequently get referred to as a green eyed monster and then called a prat. Well I tried to stop it and you carry on.

"Who's the prat?" confused

I think we've just seen that good and proper.

"This is a public forum" someone once told me.

"People can therefore post what they want" someone told me.

Sorry, you're not just a prat, you're a total hypocrite.

And telling Ash to get a life - when you're here far more and talk to your boyfriend on here for us all to read (whoo thanks) is laughable... biglaugh

To be honest though Sleepwalker.. it goes beyond their kindness in providing space for Monument.. Cerise and Rob have given up their time, energy and money on a constant basis to provide this site to us (not to mention all the re-issue cd's, merchandise etc.).. and in my opinion the last few months have seen a constant decline in standards from us, the very people who benefit from their hard work.

...you could ask the guys to wipe this thread, but the way this site appears to be going, then quite a few threads would need to go.. it's a shame, but I feel this is true.

By and large we should be ashamed if we've gone down the road of openly bitching at each other, it just doesn't make any sense... and beyond this, speaking as a comparative 'lurker' (and man of few posts, despite my long time registration) we've even got to the point where you can clearly see little factions, tribes, cliques.. call it what you will.. developing.

It's just not fair on Cerise and Rob.. if it doesn't change I wouldn't blame them if they took our toys away from us.. but then, if we continue to act like children.. who could blame them??

Fair point Slowmo'. It's human nature to have disagreements and the truth normally prevails. I mean, you can tell who's adult enough to forgive and forget before resuming normal service. You can also tell who aint, when they don't patch things up. I don't see anything wrong with disagreements me'sel, but only if people make up and get on again. It's getting to the stage on here where people are going to pussyfoot around eachother and agree with everything everyone else posts on here through fear of upsetting them if they decide to speak out and disagree with what someone has posted. Then we all start to lose some identity. Just be ourselves, but, at the same time, be big enough to talk our differences through. Life is like ANY relationship, it's all about COMPROMISE. Now I'm not trying to promote arguments....far from it. I just think we can all understand one another better after we've digested eachothers opinions. At the end of the day......is anyone really RIGHT or WRONG. We could go on forever really. What's the point eh frown

I reckon a disgreement is harmless in the long run, especially if we're big enough to stay mates afterwards. That's my outlook on it........ smile Not tryin' to preach ya understand, just me arf crowns' worth wink

Olaf, no need to over-react to it all mate. I once spat me dummy out and decided to stay away from here, with hindsight it never done me any favours. Just a bit friendly advice mate wink Another storm in a tea-cup, you've had them yourself remember wink Have yer'sel a nice day.

I think most of my personalities are a little old for your sort of therapy, Lisa... wink

Besides, I believe we had a discussion a while back on the forum about pronouncing words the way they appear or with a slightly differing inflection or emphasis...unfortunately therapist has a less than flattering alter-pronunciation... shock
