Hi guys…I don’t know whether you’ve seen the recent postings on the ‘What are you listening to?’ thread but I’ve decided to make a direct request anyway.

I’ve heard that Monument gigs are pretty good and well worth going to and now I've found out from comments on the board that Helen used to sing with a band so any chance of you persuading her to do backing vocals at some of your gigs? Because if I made it down there in October for your next gig I’d love to hear you do ‘Man of Two Worlds’ and you would need a female vocalist for that.

Its not definite I’ll find the means to get there but I am desperate to see Midge again soon so it’d be great if I could also take in a Monument gig too and see Helen as well as yourselves in performance. It would make the long, expensive trek even more worthwhile.

And if I didn’t make it maybe some kind soul with a camcorder would be prepared to record it!?

Anyway, please have a think about it.
Cheers,
Jen

To be fair to Caz its taken on a new context now where Monument and Helen should be asked their opinion first!! . Im not sitting on the fence though, as i still think its a good idea. Strangely Helens not been around of late confused2 maybe shes already in talks with the band.

Well, that's what I'm trying to do now......maybe clumsily......but of course I'd only want it to happen if all parties were up for it! Helen, I've made the request to the Monument guys but I am asking you to consider it if asked please.
Anyway, I'll shut up and keep out of it now.

Yeah, I think we should just see what the lads think - its a good idea to have backing vocalists i think, creates a fuller sound! But in the end - it is their band and a good band at that! wink

Maybe there should be a "Messengers-as-Backing-Group Tribute Band", too - "The Virtual Messengers", perhaps - on-stage with MONUMENT, give Danny and Colin a wee giggle?

No offence guys, but just think of 'Set Movements' we'll do it our way & if we can get the Messengers to do it, then great, but other than that we really don't need outside intervention, but thanks for thinking about us...keep watching for all things 'MONUMENT'

The power & the glory to you all... wink

Okay, so the answer wasn't what I'd hoped for in terms of Helen guesting occasionally as a backing vocalist on one or two songs. But thanks for responding - at least we all known the answer now! And its fair enough - its your band and from all accounts you are a good tribute band so I can see why you wouldn't want to change the dynamics/repertoire that you are comfortable with.

Having now heard that there had already been discussions on this matter I have to say that had I realised I would have kept quiet. So my apologies to all concerned for making such a request/suggestion on the public forum and for any problems or embarrassment caused thereby. SORRY GUYS! SORRY HELEN!

A salutary reminder to think twice before opening my mouth ! shocked

confused I don't think anyone has ever suggested you guys can't sing and maybe I'll find out for myself one day if I ever dare show my face at a gig!

Never thought about starting your own thread to exchange kisses? Then we could choose to avoid it if we wanted, and you wouldn't be disrespecting anybody else by hijacking their thread! wink laugh

Something that HAVOCMAN said 2 and a half weeks ago, and you're still making reference to it? Get a grip on yourself man..... do you realise how immature you come across? I don't even see your name mentioned!!!!! and all I said was "LOL!" because I thought it would be funny to have a bucket of cold water icon! banghead

Nice colourful over the top words again woman.....do you have any idea how spiteful you come accross. And all i said tonight was *kissy* to M, and you do this......so immature

Dont bring up the problems of what happened to Sleepy and Sassy for your own spite, as thats unfair on them too!!

Well theres several of you that dont want me to post, so theres not a lot i can do now. Im taking a break from here, when you 'all' decide whats not bullshit, what icons I can use, and in what threads, I will be only too happy to come back and post those things for you.

See you all whenever.....

I suggest you both avoid each other if you want there to be somewhere to post in future, because if this carries on there will be one less Ultravox forum.

Closing thread...
