got this off the limelight the other day davy

Hello All !

It has come to our attention that certain people are making it their
business to spread malicious gossip about us at Crewe Limelight. So we
wanted to make sure that all the bands we have contact details for
have our correct details.

So firstly

We have one phone number 01270 251 929 which is the club.
Many of you will have Paul's personal number and please continue to
use that to contact him for bookings as he is continuing to deal with
that for now.

The website is www.crewelimelight.co.uk please update all your links
to us. There was a "-" in the middle. We have changed the address.

The correct e-mail address is info@crewelimelight.co.uk

We are using Facebook for a lot of reasons, if any of you have a
facebook page please let us know so we can add you as a page favorite.
Please add us as well. If you do not have a Facebook page, you need
one. If you have a facebook group, you will want to convert it to a
page. (see facebook help for 100 reasons why)

The Limelight has new opening hours.
Thursdays 6pm - midnight
Fridays 6pm - 1am
Saturdays 6pm - 1am
Sundays 6pm - midnight

There are reception staff in to sell tickets Tuesday - Friday 11am - 2pm.
If you want to sell tickets for your show from your own website /
myspace / facebook let us know, we can send you a link.

Secondly...

There have been some major staff changes at the Limelight. Not least
of which is Simon from JBs Dudley has come to take over the Sound ,
Lighting and General Management of the club. There have been many
problems in many parts of the Limelight from the lack of beer to
broken equipment to poor advertising and poor scheduling. We have made
a lot of changes since 1 July 2009. This is an on going process and
will take some months to be fully implemented.

The Limelight has been a major name on the circuit for many years. We
plan to carry on providing live entertainment for many years to come.
Bands need good quality places to play and we need good quality bands
to provide entertainment for our part of Cheshire and the North West.
At this time the last thing we need is a lot of rumor and malicious
gossip. So please help us and yourselves by updating your contact
details firstly and please set people straight about the Limelight.

Many of you will have spoken to me at the club by now so will have an
idea I hope of my vision for the future of the Limelight Club. If you
want to know anything more, want to suggest where you think we have
room for improvement please let us know. Live music is a passion for
us all I am sure, Having worked at JBs for 12 years I have seen the
busy times and the quiet times. I keep hearing it's quite all over so
lets all pull together and get people back into the venues (starting
with the limelight obviously)

Finally...
Many of you will know that we have had to be closed on far too many
days over the last 2 months because of the ongoing license
application. That is finally at Cheshire East Council on Wednesday so
a big fingers crossed all morning. Hopefully that will be that and we
will be able to get on. We will let you know...

Simon

Interesting! So whats that all about then! Limes seems the only decent place for miles around - I do like the venue. I've even played at this venue myself in my band days.

What's going on ? I'll tell you what i know

I feel qualified to say something as I worked there for 14 years until last year when it became apparent that the new owner wasn't what he appeared to be .

He constanly doesn't pay bills .

Recently this chappie from Dudley JB's has taken over and in contravention of TUPE (transfer of undertaking and protection of earnings) sacked the staff and then remployed the pliable
Those sacked include the loveable Shep and a few long serving managers .

The venue had to close for a while as it didn't have a premises license

taken from the local paper

"The Limelight Club, which has become known as one of the countryís top venues for hosting live tribute acts, had to close its doors to the public on July 23 for a couple of weeks after Cheshire East Council learned the licence holder, Paul Anthony Cope, had been declared bankrupt on May 18.

Under the 2003 Licensing Act, a premises licence lapses with immediate effect when the licence holder is declared bankrupt.

Today an application for a new premises licence in the name of Nicola Cope is due to be considered by members of Cheshire East Councilís licensing sub-committee"

Nicola Cope is of course Paul Copes wife!!

The License was granted

Paul is in another spot of bother himself, mind.

"STAFFORD: A financier and former sponsor of Stafford Rangers has admitted involvement in a £25 million fraud.
Mortgage broker Paul Cope pleaded guilty, along with another businessman, Brian Challiner, to conspiracy to defraud between January 2004 and July 2008
The charge, admitted by Cope and Challiner, states that they conspired to defraud corporations, companies, firms and persons who entered into leasing agreements with companies controlled by the defendants."

So there's the rub

The Limelight was a terrific venue now sadly past it's best . Simon appears to be trying to do some good and working hard . I wish him well.

I just know that it will be a cold day in hell before I go in
