We’re very pleased to announce that the official Ultravox tribute band 'Monument' will play their second southern England show in central Oxford on Saturday February 14th 2009. Titled ‘Weerheedindoonsoothe’, the band will perform a special set at an exclusive private party for Valentines Night and will be supported by 'Partyfears3’.

For those wanting to experience the shape and the power of 'Monument' but have (perhaps) been prevented in the past by distance, this is an ideal opportunity to see Mike, Davy, Sleepy and Tommy up close and in action.

We are very pleased to announce that we have twenty pairs of tickets available for EV forum members who wish to attend. Entry is free, but strictly by invitation only and dependent on a valid pass being presented at the door on the night.

Tickets are available on a first come first served basis by e-mailing me at hitchcp@excite.com in the first instance. Full details of the location and venue will be forwarded in due course to those wanting to attend.

Look forward to seeing a few of you there.

smile

Regards,

Paul

This is going to be one great weekend. A sort of South Indian Garlic chilli Ultravox if you like. Washed down with the traditional Oxford Lassi (sic).

Good Times afore for the forum old guard.

Tips n Tricks eh Paul. A dunno bout that like, but a might hoy a few tricks your way in the Injunz. Hev ya ever seen Vindaloo eaten through the nose? Rather messy affair if a say so me'sel. Just as well they dish oot them warm wipes at the end. shocked . Nee Injunz in Feb, but April eh.

Mr Baillie - yes, an eyeball is well over due. Your description of the PF3 outfit had me choking on my 29p tin of Emerge from BM Bargains!!! A kinda 'Poor Mans Red Bull' frown I might even get up on the stage me'sel as I'm currently working on a Sitar version of Simple Minds 'Waterfront'. Mind you, a dinny wanna empty the place so a might just stick it on YouTube instead.

Well it promises to be a cracking occasion, does it not. God help the bog janitor if there's any Injun scran on the boofay! shocked

...or will the Sleepmeister go for the mankini look. shock

I hadn't realised when the next gig was first mentioned that it would be in Oxford so I won't be able to make it as I'm working till yon time in the afternoon/tea time and just couldn't get there in time.

Looks like I'll have to wait until April 10th to meet up with you again.

The rather excellent Roland Juno 60, if I'm not very much mistaken - the give-away being the switched HPF (where the 6 had a continuous slider).

Is there a prize? Do I win the Juno??

A few more photos here (if you're not on Facebook you should still be able to see these, if not let me know and I'll put them somewhere else).

Thank you to everyone involved in Saturday - and especially Paul and Pip for looking after us so well and making sure we had everything we needed. It was a real pleasure playing for you and I wish you both every happiness for the future!

Two superb sets from Partyfearsthree and Monument on Saturday night.

Andy, Mike and Don had the dancefloor pumping to up-to-date arrangements of '80s classics like Wishing, Talk Talk, Save a Prayer, Planet Earth, Just Can't Get Enough. Superb.

Mike, Davy, Don and Tommy then took to the stage and treated us to a whistle-stop tour of Ultravox's finest, from Hiroshima Mon Amour through One Small Day, Reap the Wild Wind and Hymn, via Private Lives, Vienna, All Stood Still and We Stand Alone, including the crowd-pleasing extended version of The Voice, culminating in an awesome polyrythmic drum workout. By special request, and highly appropriate to the occasion, they ended on Midge Ure's romantic That Certain Smile.

Well done to all concerned - Mrs. C and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, so Thanks and Congrats to Paul and Pip!

You're not trying to access it from somewhere that blocks things like Facebook are you? It seems to be OK at this end, even if I log out of Facebook first. What exactly happens when you click the link?

I can only echo what has been said about Saturday night. The sets from both 'Monument' and 'Partyfearsthree' were fantastic and rounded off a long day precisely the way we intended it to.

smile

Despite them having made the long journey (and having to do the same back the next day), David, Mike, Don, Tommmy and Steve kept our guests thoroughly entertained and I can not thank them enough for their efforts. The sound and track selection was just fantastic (especially the last number of the evening) and I would recommend anyone here to help them put on a similar show if they wanted to like a shot, no question.

Thanks to everyone - especially the band(s) - who made the effort to come to the Jericho, and sorry if we did not get round to saying 'hello'. It had been rather a long long day. But another time, sooner rather than later, I hope...

Regards,

Paul

Hi Helen,

Unfortunately, Ash wasn't able to attend the gig, so no photos from him this time around I'm afraid.
