Still winding down so thought I'd post a brief comment on tonight's Here and Now at Manchester.

One thing about the M.E.N arena - it's b****y cold! They have an ice rink under the floor and boy can you feel it biglaugh

We were on the second row from the front, centre block so we had a fantastic view. Thought all the acts were great, and Midge was looking and sounding very good smile Really enjoyed his guitar work along with the impressive H&N band. First time I have seen him play live and hope it won't be the last!

Songs were as follows (I think, I'm truly addled at the moment laugh ):

Hymn, Fade to Grey, If I WAs, No Regrets, Love's Great Adventure, Vienna, Dancing With Tears In My Eyes (think they're in the right order).

Great rendition of "Do They Know It's Christmas" at the end too laugh

Really enjoyed it, anyone else on here that went tonight?

Hiya!!

Yes I was there too. One of the three wearing the bright red MidgeUre.com pyjama top giving out leaflets at the rail entrance to arena.

Good showindeed. Nik Kershaw was funny and talented, Bucks Fizz were suprisingly entertaining, Belinda Carlisle was ok, Kim looked good in her leather outfit, sounded good too. Loved rockin around the xmas tree!!!

Midge had a bit of a bad throat, still did a great st tho, really seems to be enjoybing himself.

Interesting point of the night were the number of people coming up to me at end asking questions and stating that they didnt realise Midge was THAT good!! Looks like the intention of the tour to raise profile may well have caught a few new fans.

Cheers!

dm!!

Sorry to have missed you, we came out of that exit too - d'oh! laugh

Didn't realise Midge had a bad throat, I picked up a couple of very slight "blips" but he sounded great overall. My OH didn't realise Midge was such a good guitarist  so I had to explain all the band history etc etc laugh

Nice to hear Midge has picked up some new fans after this too!

Have to say I was impressed with Bucks Fizz - really didn't know what to expect there. Seems they had a lot of fans in last night too laugh OH was impressed with Kim's leather outtfit  laugh

Oh that was funny - "right you all have to put your hats on now ... what do you mean, you forgot your hat" laugh Poor guy!

Loved Midge's parting shot too "Give us your F-ing money!!" lmao nice one. The Band Aid collectors had some heavy buckets I think!

He sounded a bit raspy in Newcastle (especially at the beginning) and missed out some of the high notes in Hymn, probably saving his voice for later in the set... wink

I thought Nik Kershaw was good, great set and guitar sound.

...oh, and I wholly concur on Kim Wilde and her leather body suit.... smile

All his performances that I saw the last time (since the DVD and before that already on "Stars for Free" in Berlin 1998) weren't very well sung. In fact some of them were really bad.... .

Okay maybe that is overdone, but my point is, she seems to be past her prime. Dont you have better taste than that?? K dont bash me now, I am just curious what it is you see....besides her tits hanging oot.

Sassy, Your post sounds a little bitchy!
As a woman who used to wear a lot of black leather, I know it must have taken quite a lot of effort to get into it! lol
Kim Wilde is in her 40's and I tell you I thought she looked fantastic and I'm 100% hetrosexual. My main point is this, I am 23 years old, I am 5'10" and I am also pregnant (with a big belly) my body having not quite recovered from the birth of my first child 9 months ago! I would give anything to look like Kim Wilde, a woman old enough to be my mother, right now!

She's still attractive, but I prefer the older pics... .
......You know, I'm not very old yet .

What a guitar did Midge play? The last performance I have seen he used a Strat or Strat-like guitar (maybe the one that can be (hardly) seen in the BandAid20 videoclip?).

Hiya,

Midge was playing his yamaha sg, not sure the exact model, but he does play it at every band gig, and the occasional solo outing too. I dont know about guitars but it is a beautiful piece of kit!

cheers

Know what ya mean Joby...

As far as Kim Wilde is concerned - if she looks that good squeezed into a leather cat suit at her age, then good luck to her. Maybe her thighs/belly are a bit big, but she looks good and she's real, not some pneumatic plastic tart with fake you know whats... There's more to "sexy" than classic good looks and skinny figure.

The 2004 ones look like she needs to buy a bigger size cat suit though... eek

Well... Kim Wilde in that leather outfit in 2003 - Sexy? You must be kidding....

Actually I ever find her that attractive at all. She has no any "edge", if ya know what I mean. But thatīs just my opinion.

And Helen, donīt worry. I know what pragnancy does for women - your time will come. I found my wifeīs big belly (x2) the most beautiful thing on earth. Carry it with pride!!! smile

Daz, it's not a Yamaha, it's a Gordon Smith! As as for Midge's rough throat, he'd picked up a vile bug and spent 4 days throwing up!! All now fully recovered and his voice was back on normal form for the last 3 gigs.

Thanks B! Midge seems to use them quite a long time now (wasn't it already a Gordon Smith in "Cold Cold Heart"?).

Maybe this "Strat" in BandAid20 is a Gordon Smith, too?

On the contrary Helen, I do not fancy myself. And I would think as woman you would find offence in the comments made about Kim Wilde. Afterall the boys seem to only be interested in her black leather and not in whether or not she has any musical talent. If she choses to be remembered for her black leather and not what she is supposedly on stage for then she should quit her day job.

P.S. and just like the rest on here, I am entitled to my opinion.

Maybe if you all would stay outta our exclusive thread then we would, besides the fact my comment about Kim Wilde that started this was not even directed at Sleepy. You guys need to chill and grow up this is a public formum and life is too short to be serious all the time or let little insignificant things "piss" you off.

P.S. Maybe if you actually read the whole thread you would see that Sleepy has had nothing to do with this until today.

Nor is it your's my friend, you neither moderate, nor decide what can be discussed and what can not.
The forum is a community of diverse people and opinions.
I, for one, do not agree or like some of the opinions and/or posts, neither do I like trawling through consistently off topic posts, but do not threaten to report people for harmless chatter.
Like most of the threads in this forum, there are off-topic comments made, but no worse than any other.
I find your response completely over the top and unjustifiable... Calm down...

I'm with Mike_L on this one, but would say that when so little moderation seems to take place on here, some people will be bound to get pissed off at the stuff which is off topic or of no interest to anyone apart from the target of the post. Some forums moderate that stuff, some don't. It was never really necessary on here up until the last few months.

Threatening this and that isn't really making that person any better than the targets of his anger though...

If Cerise and Rob choose to let this kind of stuff go on, then you have a simple choice - leave, or stay and try and ignore it. No point in harping on about it as that achieves nothing - they won't stop or go away just because you want them to.

I've found that the wee green backwardsy arrow thing at the top left of the screen of my computing engine is brilliant at such moments: one gentle press, and I'm transported away to the index page to find something else.

I, too, own some black leather trousers - rather fetching, with laces all up the sides, go splendidly with a tweed jacket and a riding stock. I don't have a real midriff to speak of, my boobs certainly don't hang out all over the place ( Damn those black market hormone tablets! Nothing but chalk after all. ), and I'm not (quite)as old as Kim; and yet still people ask me not to wear them. Life's so bloody unfair.

Musical talent? Kim Wilde? My opinion:she has none really. If she is ever going to be remembered, itīs only because of "Love Blonde" - image! wink Sad but true. And thatīs why we are still discussing about her (leather outfit), and sheīs doing the best she can to maintain that "Love Blonde" - image.

I disagree actually. Yep, she had the blonde bimbo type image, but you show me any female singer who doesn't at least start out with this (alright, discounting Kate Bush - everyone just thought she was mad). It's wrong, but it's true. Yes, her dad and brother wrote most of her songs, but she still had to pull out the delivery and some of her early stuff is cracking.

Oh, and Ari, check your mail, lad...
