Hi folks, Due to the tour and everything else going on this year, we thought it would be best to move this year's Covers Comp end date on a bit from the mid-year date we originally intended. It's now set for 12pm GMT October 10th 2009 (Midge's birthday seemed like an appropriate date!) and we'll start uploading all the already-submitted entries shortly. Ladies and gents, start your engines please! Cheers, Cerise, Rob & Paul.

Hello!
I'll be entering. Being of a Foxx persuasion, I'll be submitting an original song in an early Ultravox! style, and a cover too - most likely 'Just For A Moment'. I'll get the MP3s to you ASAP. My friend will be doing the same too (1 original / 1 cover) - again with a strong Foxx slant.
All the best for now, Adam.

I was working on a delightfully cheesy jazz version of "Visions In Blue" - I thought I might call it "Visions In Blue-Note" (groan! ) But I'm flying to Edinburgh tomorrow so it'll have to wait till the next time! (I may have entered enough songs already anyway! ) Look forward to hearing the entries! I have listened to previous contests' entries and they sound really good! (PS - Looking forward to seeing Midge in Hartlepool!)

DON'T BAR THE DOORS YET, CERISE! I know we're coming dangerously close the deadline, but my mix is done, and it only needs to be mastered by the incomparable Steve Turnidge. Once I have the mastered version, then the MP3 is off to you. Any minute now! I've worked so hard on it, so if I come in just a few minutes after Midnight, you won't fault me, will ya?!

Hi keeptorqueing, The deadline was actually midday today - but a few have turned up a little late (possibly because our deadlines have previously been midnight), so that's fine. We'll extend it to 10am tomorrow (Sunday) for any last stragglers. All entries will be uploaded over the next week - looks like it's going to be a great year again!

That's it - entries are closed for 2009. I'm sorting through entries right now, will start uploading. Might take a day or two to get them all done, will post notice here when all are available to hear. Judging will take place whilst I'm on hols at the end of this month and the winners will be announced in the second week of November. Well done, everyone!

Good to see this year's competition up and running! After a quick browse it sounds like the entries are of a high standard overall. And I understand there are plenty more to come! I like Adam Leonard's 'Implausible Man', stands out for being in an early Ultravox! style. Best of luck to all!

I have listened Competiton's Song. Everybody gave full heart into their songs. Nice to hear those good work! Best Cover: Wow "Sleepwalk" by Electro 80. is perfect!!! my favourite! - I haven't expected Ultravox'sound. But here is perfect, and other important think. You sing with your own voice. You don't need to be Midge the 2nd. (Midge II is Mike from Monument He has to be )). Moon Over Moscow - Visage cover by Christopher Watson and Lament by Dareen Cowie are also very close to the orignals. Best Recover - This is I have been waiitng for SR X is Perfect!!!, Vienna by Eugene is Great!!! But I like other ReCovers Hiroshima Mon Amour - Ultravox! re-cover by Electric Angels is very interested,I like this version, Just For a Moment - Ultravox! re-cover by Adam Leonard i very like your arrangment eith guitar, Maximum Acceleration - Ultravox! re-cover by Fredrik Helander fir me sounds like later Ultravox with fine "guest" vocals, cool interpretation, Best Origial The level goes up. I also very like this section: Limelight by Frederik reminds me B-sides from Vienna and Quartet (Alles klar / Monument) with more Quartet sound. The Archer is more Billy's sound. Frederik - your 80's girl would has been a hit in 80's. Adam Leonard in The Implausible Man playing like Robin Shears or Steve Simon. I don't know. Real old good Ultravox!.Through the Door by Fredrik - have you invited Midge for this song??? I; m waitn for the next part and try to write short post. Bye Sly

The standard is high isnt it? I've decided to do a little article and put some coverage on some of this work as I feel some of it is quite inspiring - and it would tie in nicely with a project I'm working on at the moment about electronic music. I may have a few questions I hope thats okay. Ta Jus

Ta Jus You might find joining the Electro80s forum would help you with this Jus. There is even a well known drummer from an 80s electro group who recently joined the forum - & it's not Warren!!
