Why not forget about the next competition and just focus on creating some great music?

Perhaps it would be possible to host the tracks on this site, still with the rating system?

It seems like many are waiting for an deadline for the next big thing, why not just get started and enjoy that others are listening to your own music - I do...

actually , i've started the "ev radio" show with the very same intention - to present YOUR music to a wider audience of interested & open-minded listeners !!!

maybe we can have a kind of "competition" also on the "ev radio" show & present about 10 or 12 songs of all the interested & participatin' members of this forum already in the july show then !?

Yes, I think that's a very good idea.

I second that. It would certainly take a lot of pressure off everyone involved, including the competitors! It would also give the people who wish to submit songs the freedom to do whatever they want with them, without adhering to the confines of a category. In other words, no-one would have to worry about whether or not they sound like Midge or John!!

As long as the songs sound good, so what? Excellent idea.

Of course this would be great! But I have posted every of my last tracks here anyway .

But isn't there an official and actual deadline for the competition? Again Octobre the 31st?

Nils - that was the original plan, but because of the discussion / complaints that Warren hasn't had time to sort out prizes for everyone yet, I suspect he'll be less keen to do it again - and he did say a while back that perrhaps one of the other band members ought to take the ball and run with it this time. But since I haven't even managed to get Midge, Chris or John to post once yet, they're out of the question. Billy's a possibility, if he's willing and has time, but he hasn't been on for a little while.

So, to take the pressure off of Warren and to turn this back into a community-based thing, I think Ole's idea is a good one, as is Olaf's. Still have a deadline perhaps - October 31st if that osunds OK to everyone - to get entries in, and then feature the top 10 or 12 tracks on an EV Radio show.

What does everyone think..?

(Getting back on topic... ) Here's another idea: How about we still have a competition, but the winner merely gets bragging rights? It seems that last year, the winners were quite satisfied having just been chosen a winner (which is fair enough), and they'll have that to smile about and feel proud of again. And, if possible, they could have a title under their username for the year - "Winner of the Ultravox Covers Competition" and the category in which they won. How's that? That way, we can still have the competitive spirit, Warren can still judge if he wants to and has time (and I hope he does), and it would save him the trouble of digging up prizes for the winner.

Just a thought. Comments?
