Hi folks. Have you seen this beautiful custom Creamware Prodyssey?

oddy

I want to get a similar one made up for Dave Formula for his Magazine gigs in Feb 09 but with a 3 octave keyboard.

Anyone know who might be able to do this for us?

Yes, Graeme! I remember having seen
this custom Prodyssey on Youtube!
Looks nice! smile

I remember Andy talking about some sort of issue
with the ringmod and it not being duophonic
like the original - so it would be very
interesting to hear your and Dave`s opinion
about the Prodyssey!

Hi,

The guy to talk to is Jeff Toman at

http://www.customsynth.co.uk

Jeff does a lot of our artwork and is an expert at customising and restoring synths. We were only just talking this morning about a Nord he'd modified recently with a 3 octave keyboard.

He's done a lot of excellent work for bands such as the Kaiser Chiefs.

You can see some Jeff's recent work on our kit at:

I would totally concur - Jeff has just finished working on some pieces for me and they are stunning.

Check him out - it could be well worth it!!

Jeff Toman is a top bloke, he offered to do a 'TOTAL' Quartet job on our gear, was gonna cost but the result would be outstanding!

I may still get my trusty old Roland JD-800 re-finished in a Jupiter-8 stylee!

He's a good keyboard tech too wink

Graeme

Dave may be better to buy a mark 1 Odyssey for the prices that are going about just now!!!

Thanks guys

I'll pass on your recommendations. His stuff does look stunning doesn't it? Kind of a "Pimp my Synth"!!!

Jesper - Dave has mentioned the ring mod also as not being quite the same as his original and has to restrain himself from not playing poly with it, at least on the Magazine stuff. Having said that he loves the programmability.

Don - Dave's still got his original mark 1 whiteface oddy but its a bit risky and fiddly for these gigs. It broke down during the recording of "Play" in Australia in 1980 for example. Lost your email as well mate!!! d'oh. banghead

Still undecided what to do about the Piano - the Yam elec grand or a more up to date piano like the Nord with the Yam sound on it. Anyone heard the Nord?

Again thanks for all your input, its very much appreciated. mexican

I believe the Nord Electro's are quite good, you should be able to get a decent CP-70 sample from one of those.

Best thing to do, is to go into your nearest retailer for a demo, proof in the pudding and all that matey wink

Thanks a lot for your reply Graeme!

I don`t know the Nord, so I can`t comment
on that, but I can recommend the old
Yamaha P50-m piano module, which still
is great - especially for live work, it
sits very good in the mix live!
One of the most welknown keyboarders
(Mikkel Damgaard) in DK uses it a lot - especially live! It has several CP-presets.

If an Akai S5000/6000 sampler is an option I can really recommend this. It doesnt get any better:

Hi All,

Well, it's all done and dusted. Taken a few weeks but I finally got there (although I really could do with a plastic injection moulding set-up as I never want to see another piece of MDF ever... EVER mad )

Glad I did the job though, and I hope Dave likes it eek

Andy.

What a fantastic synth! I'm sure that Dave is going to have fun with the Prodyssey. It might inspire him to write new tracks, Magazine tracks. wink

Well done Andy!

I can confirm that Dave is absolutely delighted with Andy's work. I've yet to see it in the tolex flesh but Dave said the attention to detail is stunning. He's in the studio with it now scoring a film comission for the BFI with the Prodddy and his newly aquired Nord Electric.

Thanks again Andy, and we look forward to seeing the Oddy in action in Feb.

Cheers

He, he,

You got one then Sleepy!

It really is the cat's knackers - 16 perfect ARP's in a tiny white box... I love it!

Someone should tell Mr. Currie about this beauty, 'cos if I see him using an OSCar on this tour (if I get the chance!!!) I'll personally re-route his MIDI cables to somewhere where the sun don't shine biglaugh
