Hello Chris! Can you tell me (if you know, of course) - or can anybody tell - how many releases this Robin's Neo band had put out? Or are those listed all they have?

Hi Vladimir,

That's how far my knowledge goes. Unfortunately, nothing released on CD so far. frown

Cerise and Robin (Harris) and Mrs X may be the best people to provide more info on this.

It would be interesting to track down someone who has a CDR copy of Neo's material.

I would also love if Robin(Simon) would participate in the Forum now and again like Warren, Billy and Danny. Well you never know!

Bye for now!

Thanks Chris for what you have to say. Now, I've just noticed that the date of NEO single release is "November 1978". How can it be? Robin was already in Ultravox at that time. Maybe "November 1977" is more correct?

confused
I'm not too sure here. I've only one source info . It gives November 1978 as the date of release. There's actually not much info available on Neo. As I said earlier it'll have to be either our charming hosts or the man himself who could shed some light here.

Well, thanks a lot nevertheless, Chris!

I've done some RESEARCH - here's the results:

First, the addition to Robin's discography - single A-side "Trans-sister" later surfaced on the only NEO album called... "Neo" (1979, Aura Records).
By the way, Paul Simon used to play in this band on drums around the time of album release. Is he a brother?

Then - some background information:
Neo's vocalist was Ian North - here's an article on him (with a paragraph about the band):

Some other ones:
- http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Diner/2674/bgrah_b.htm (after Robin had left - scroll down the page)

Then, the most full article on the band:
A must read really, some great information!

Also spotted a band called RADIO with the following line-up:
Martin Gordon - bass, vocals; Ian North - vocals; Paul Simon - drums; Robin Simon - guitar
- but no further information whatsoever...

to ChrisC:
A confirmation of "November 1978" date of NEO's only release featuring our Rob:
article from "Sounds 4 November 1978".
Strange, though - I can only think that the songs for this single were recorded much earlier, with Robin still in the band...

Phew, that's it for now smile

I loved that "Tran Sister" single; John Peel played it. At the time it seemed like very weird heavy metal or glam to me. The label the Ian North album came out on also released Alex Chilton's "Like Flies On Sherbet" album, i believe. Which is also excellent.

He actually is.

Well there's more to Robin Simon than meets the eye.

Well researched Vladimir and a great contribution to this category.

If anybody else has further info on Robin please add them here. We'll make sure that Robin is not the Forgotten Man of Ultravox!

Cheers

Hello to all again, and again some research.

This band RADIO is actually a NEO band, just under the different name. More information here:
scroll down near the bottom of the page or type "Ian North" in the "Search" option.

BUT - seems like the single "Trans-Sister" should be deleted from Robin's discography, as Robin didn't actually play on it! There's quite an interesting material here:
Japanese site, but some sections are in English and therefore readable. And one of that sections is a letter from someone called "SW" in Appendex 2, with confirmation of it.
So Rob seems to be just a member of a live version of the band...

More details, anyone?

Hi all!

Album

Sinews of the Soul - Humania

As most of you would know by now the long awaited album by Humania will be available on CD as from 6/3/06 on Billy's Puzzle label. Thanking Billy for rescuing this one from oblivion, we are now happy to enjoy once again Robin playing alongside Billy in this brand new album.

Really looking forward to this event
