I'm toying with the idea of getting an electronic drum kit due to space and noise restrictions, can anybody point me in the right direction as to which to look out for, or to avoid.
I used to be in a band back in the 80's but it's nearly twenty years ago, so I want something that is as close to the feel of a real kit, without having to sell a kidney to be able to afford it. nervouslaugh

Tnx in advance

Thanks Sleepwalker I was looking at either Roland or Yamaha, but you've given me a starting place to look now. wink

I think a trip down to my local music shop first to see if they've got one on demo, then I'll hit ebay. rolleyes

Cheers for that

You could try emailing Mark Jackson from VNV Nation - he uses electronic drums

The Yamaha DTXpress is a good way to get back into drums but I think you'l find it limiting after the novelty wears off.

IMHO the best thing to do would be to get a nice accoustic kit and a set of silencers.

For around 500 you can get a gretsch catalina which is a lovely kit for the money.

Over time you can improve the kit with better cybals, a new snare etc but the electronic kit will still be a set of rubber pads that you'll find vaguely unsatisfying.

A bit like a Quarter Pounder with Cheese!?
