Does anyone know if Midge was using the Vox Valvetronix amps on the new tour, or did he bring out the AC30s for RIE nostalgia?

And it looked like a Line 6 XT Live on the floor - was that right?

There are links to two articles on the 'Return to Eden Technical Stuff' thread which give all the tech info of what was used on the tour...see here

Thanks for the replies smile
The links are very interesting; though I couldn't find any backline info on there, I found it very interesting about Midge and the lights.
I must say, then, those Valvetronix amps sound GREAT! Any idea how many he had up there?
Do you know what Midge was using as a Foot Controller for the XT Pro? I had assumed it was one of their normal Floor units (XT Live or X3 Live). Would it have been some kind of Line 6 footswitch controlling the Pro?
Ha ha, sorry for the geek questions, but I love this stuff!
Many thanks for answering.

sorry bum info!

Pod XTlive going into the line ins on the Valvetronix (singular). He does have a XT pro as well, but we ditched it at rehearsals.

Thanks so much for the info.

Midge, I believe, is a real rarity in the current musical climate. Where most players are either
(a) trancey "soundscape"-type experimental players, or
(b) very traditional old-fashioned types still using stuff from the '60s,
it is so refreshing and inspiring to be able to look to someone who is a REAL player, with lots of feel and ability, who is not afraid to look forwards, rather than backwards and not scared to apply the benefits of technology to guitar sound. And to great effect, at that.

I'd better exercise some self-control, as I could quite easily drone on for ages and bore you half to death with "Midge gear" questions!

One quick question, though, if I may - are there any good pics of Midge's setup floating around I could use as my desktop background?

Cheers again,
Glenn.

Ha ha, OK thanks anyway. That's the best way for sound quality, really, isn't it? Also explains why I couldn't see it! nutjob

If I may ask, which model Valvetronix is it? I'll put the catalog pic on LOL.

I guess probably the 50W or 100W version?

Sorry to bug you!

Love those Vox amps. laugh
I myself have a lower-powered version, which I stack on top of a Carvin 100W amp and play through them both for a stereo delay sometimes.
I did post this link in the "My own Music" section, so apologies if it's not okay to double links, but here's a clip where I use them with my Ibanez guitar (yes, the MU influence runs deep!):

Incidentally, I just watched the "Live Aid" slot again on YouTube tonight - was that a Vox Conqueror head behind Midge back then?
