Hhmmm. But, you know, they're not ELO, And I suspect the music they've recorded isn't of the same ilk either. And the ELO album was, erm, 34 years ago now...

'Get real'. OK, consider this then. It doesn't matter what I individually think of the press or worry what's potentially said or written. But do you think the band themselves would want to saddle themselves with an album title that could be so easily mocked or derided as overly pretentious by the wider world before anything had even been heard?

Thanks for the reply. You know, a few years ago, i would have been quite taken with writing a reply to a posting that could have possibly continued an argument. But interestingly, I do appreciate there's no point to that now. You have your point of view, and that's fine. Debate is good. Debate is what makes forums like this thrive and for people to remain relevant to the music and band they love. I don't read a physical newspaper; for the small sums of money they cost against the time I have to read them it would be wasted. When I worked in town, The Standard was the paper I took, mainly because the media section was fascinating - to learn about the comings and goings in what would have been termed in old days as Fleet Street was amazing - and because the specialist columnists wrote with an entertaining style and incisive views. My father buys 'The Sun', but for my news I get that either from Radio 4 in the mornings or online broadsheets, the latter if I get to see them at all during the day. I appreciate they may be akin to listening to the fashionably disliked Oxbridge mafia, but they do at least allow people to gather an informed opinion for themselves without having to be spoon fed a diet of lowest common denominator crap. I'm older now. My music magazine of choice used to be 'Q', but I gave that up when it seemed to become reliant on a headlines and stories that claimed 'The Foo Fighters' or 'U2' were the greatest band in the world and that 'Nevermind' by 'Nirvana' is always going to considered the greatest album of all time. There came a point when either 'it' had become tired, or I had. Thinking back, I suspect it is the latter. I'm middle aged, degree educated and stuck in a job several grades below what I should be that I don't like (but am pleased to be employed given the current climate) and I have Multiple Sclerosis that has been in remission, thank God, for about nine years now. For that last point, it is what it is; I do not ask for sympathy or pity because if you met me, for the most part, you would not know I had it unless I told you and I am genuinely incredibly fortunate compared to the many tens of thousands that suffer much more than me. In answer to 'What keeps me awake at night?'; not music, newspapers, or what others may think of me or my views. Or Ultravox. That I can assure you. The ba(n)d will call the album what they want to, and I'm sure the title and the music will be a fantastic addition to what they've recorded twenty five (plus) years ago. On the throwaway comment that based on what I said the album should be called 'Rubbish' or 'Terrible'. Generally, people who like the band won't be swayed to think it's anything but perfect; anyone who doesn't like the band may not be swayed to think anything otherwise. But the unknowns, including the people who influence those who don't or won't be swayed to think the bands work is not to their taste, they're the ones you want to consider. Imagine if without hearing the material they reverted to type and combined the words 'Monumental' and 'Rubbish', and you'll perhaps see in a wider context why the first of those words is a bad title to even tempt fate with. I think my time on the forum may be coming to an end with this post; nothing is forever, and something to consider over the next few weeks maybe. Anyway, no matter. Thank you for listening. All the best, EG

Previously I suggested "Unity" or "Crystal", but after the Trip to Poundland, Curry crisps and sorry for the last one suggestions (all genius, by the way!), I've realised that I may have been taking this far too seriously. So: ULTRAVOX - "CATFLAP" (or "CATNIP", I can't decide). Chooch and E.G. Ekin - calm down . We're on the cusp of the most exciting thing that's happened with this band in over a quarter of a century - A NEW ALBUM! Just imagine what this forum is going to be like in a few months when the album is out (and the tour that must follow - please!) - don't bail out now Mr. Ekin, Member no. 13 means you've been around longer than most in here, the best is yet to come! We'll have none of that talk around here!

Young Dazlin, if I may be so bold, your CATFLAP suggestion may have some clout. Release format follows several variations, like vinyl, Cd, download, and as such we also have a variation to your theme. May I offer some enlightenment... CATFLAP CATNIP  FLAPNIP Whaddah ya reckon?

[/qb]
PUSSYFLAP Whaddah ya reckon? [/QB]
Green Days next album is called 'Awesome as F***" - I like your thinking, Mr. C.P! (Perhaps Pussyflap is the name of the album with the Parental Warning sticker in the corner, eh?) Thanks for the young Dazlin comment, by the way - I'm 44 in body, but still 18 in my head! Love Flip-flop and Rattrap as well, Synthpop! I now have FLATCAP in my head, as I suspect CATFLAP could be changed to CLAPTRAP by some smart-alec..... Thanks for cheering up a dull morning, folks!

After my last suspension I said I wasn't coming back but after a year I thought why not. I saw a couple of things going on I wanted to support & contribute to. I'm using a different username to before & actually not posting as frequently as I used to. A lot of my banter I save for elsewhere as it wasn't always appreciated on here. Probably isn't elsewhere but Havocman can like it or lump it!! :p On a final note....I'm genuinely pleased to hear your MS in remission. I've known 2 people in the past with MS to differing degrees.

Since it's taken them 25 years to make it . . . 'Jubilee'? 25 years is the silver anniversary, so they could call the album SILVER. It could also refer to their hair color (for those who still have hair).

I like this train of thought. How about this for an album title:
'Bald'
It has many things going for it. It has that whole 'one word album title' thing going on thus making it sound deep and philosophical, and it also has the added benefit that it will resonate with approximately 43% of the male fan base, and the wider population of males over 40. Sure, it possibly won't appeal as much to female fans but, and here's the genius bit, it can have a companion volume of instrumentals and remixes called:
'Hirsute'.
I think the lines are now closed.
