Now don't shoot the messenger...I'm not going to the gigs but am meeting friends from facebook before the London show.

Has anyone heard the following...

Did anyone listen to that radioshow on LBC (with Numan) this morning (Sun 20 Mar). Is it true that Gary won't be performing at the "Back to the Phuture" gigs????

As I said before "don't shoot the messenger"...I'm asking this question as a friend of mine is coming over from Belgium for the gigs & asked this question on her facebook.

I'm just trying to find out as I don't listen to LBC & am not trying to start any blasphemous rumours...ok wrong band I know...it's because I'm 5'10" I know!!

I do know that at some point it will be available on podcast but don't have a pc at home & don't always have time to listen when I'm online in a library anyway!!

Both shows are still on according to a tweet on Gary Numan's Twitter feed a few minutes ago

quote from numans website;

'By the way, please ignore the write up in London's Time Out On-Line that said the event was cancelled. It was an error on their part not connected with our event. The shows are definitely on and, as we've said, will witness the biggest Numan stage set for three decades. It's going to be amazing. '

At the London Troxy gig, not only will there be JOHN FOXX and GARY NUMAN but also MIRRORS, possibly the best new synth act in the UK for many years.

If you've not checked out their debut album "Lights & Offerings", then do yourself a favour...it really is THAT good! smile

I posted this elsewhere but it needs to go hear as well !

The running order for the Troxy is:(in order of appearance)

Mirrors
John Foxx
Motor
Gary Numan

Mirrors should be on at 19:15 so an early start!

Best

Following on from Chris' post (above), I understand that running order at The Troxy is as follows...

****

Doors : 18:45
18:45 - 19:10 : DJ (Mark Jones) / Set-Up (25 minutes)
19:10 - 19:40 : Mirrors (30 minutes)
19:40 - 20:00 : DJ (Mark Jones) / Set-Up (20 minutes)
20:00 - 21:00 : John Foxx (60 minutes)
21:00 - 21:15 : DJ (Mark Jones) / Set-Up (15 minutes)
21:15 - 21:45 : Motor (30 minutes)
21:45 - 22:30 : DJ (Daniel Miller) / Set-Up (45 minutes)
22:30 - 24:00 : Gary Numan (90 minutes)
24:00 - 00:30 : DJ (30 minutes)
Non-VIP Doors : 00:30 Close
00:30 - 01:30 : VIP Aftershow
VIP Doors : 01:30 Close...

*****

I hope that this helps...

Rob

Is Mark Jones really a professional DJ ?

And does having someone on stage playing records between acts do anything for anyone ? Why not just stick on a tape ?

As it was Mark Jones who put the whole shebang together, I think he can do what he wants.

Now, you have listened to his show 'Back To The Phuture' on BBC6 Music? I think that makes him a professional DJ.

So what did you think of the evening at The Troxy? I think it had a real sense of occasion to it, a true celebration of electronic music. MIRRORS particularly were superb and I really enjoyed JOHN FOXX's set...even got to chat with him afterwards, a thoroughly nice bloke.

yes - mirrors where great - see my comments in the "music recommendations section". And okay Mark Jones is a radio DJ and event organiser. I just dont see the point of anyone on stage at a concert playing a series of records.

Hence the reason I'd never go to a Fatboy Slim 'concert'.

I suppose the alternative is if you aren't interested in the DJ set....go & have a beer/lemonade!! wink

Cheers Pete,

I missed quite a few people who I knew were at the gig because of the sheer size of the venue.

I spent most of the time at the front then in the VIP bar afterwards.
