Now I'm not generally a fan of compilation albums, and this is the first I have been out and purchased for several years.
It's the inclusion of many 12" remixes that did it, particularly those by Fad Gadget, Soft Cell and Japan, and I think the whole package really works particularly Disc 2 which includes Bauhaus and Propaganda
The third disc is relatively weak (it's a bit 'poppy' for me) but includes New Muzik who were one of the first bands I saw live.

Seems weird now hearing Underpass in its contemporary context - conceptually "miles away" from what else was going on at the time

I don't tend to buy these 80's compilations either but I was attracted by some of the more obscure tracks on Electric 80s. The majority of the other tracks I already have on CD.

Disc three is a bit too poppy for my tastes, Haysi Fantayzee and Marilyn anyone? I'll just have to create my own ultimate compilation!

Having said that tho, I was a big fan of Haysi Fantaysee in their day and still have all their stuff on vinyl and a few dog-eared posters somewhere. The 12" of 'John Wayne is Big Leggy' is a gem

Something to do with the scrumminess of Kate Garner I think wink <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />

Bought this compilation the other day myself. I think its one of the best of the 80's ones around. Theres only a couple of duff tracks on it - not bad over 3 cds!

I don't like their music but I have to agree that Kate Garner was pretty hot !
