cool ! that's interesting, thanks for the link.

i have always liked Icehouse / Iva Davies, got a few albums, and a remix album which was done a few years ago that wasnt too bad.

i didnt know they'd covered TMWDED 'live' though.

think i will be making some purchases !

cheers

I'm not a massive fan of the Flowers album, but I'll probably still pick this up for all the extras.

Hope they do all the other albums in the same vein...

I haven't heard the Ultravox cover but I do have several Icehouse albums.

The title album is very good and well worth purchasing. The Man of Colours album is a masterpiece.

I've got the 'Great Southern Land' compilation cd, plus a soundboard live show from 1986, but to date I haven't heard any of their albums. Underrated band in my opinion. The two single releases around '85ish, 'Crazy' and 'Electric Blue' were excellent. Got them both on 12" vinyl, although the kit is in the turntable graveyard so I can't see the black stuff coming outa the sleeves again. frown

But yes, Icehouse, my cuppa tea entirely! smile

same here, my albums were on vinyl too, and those two great singles Crazy & Electric Blue... only got the compilation on CD, maybe need to look into replacing those vinyls with CD's.

For anyone who didnt hear their earlier stuff, here's Iva Davies doing his best Numan/Foxx impression, but in his own great unique style

excited

An absolutely brilliant band, dare I say it they come close to rivalling Ultravox!

Some of my favourite Icehouse songs:

No Promises: ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyBif6w-SiY&feature=related]

Don't Believe Anymore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SJFrqV2LKA&feature=fvwrel

Dusty Pages: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROBepLfoQjQ

For those lucky enough to be near the Northern Territory they are doing a rare live performance at the Arafura games in Darwin in early May!

Iva Davies' voice and music style strongly reminded of Bryan Ferry, particularly on 'Hey Little Girl'.It even got to the point that he hired Rhett Davies ( no family connection ) as a producer and Eno as guest artist for the 1986-album 'Measure For Measure'.Among former members were Guy Pratt, known for his work with Ferry/Roxy/Pink Floyd.

He was acused of ripping off Ferry when they released Hey Little Girl. It put my Roxy Music loving sister off Icehouse until I played her an album. Then she realized they were great in their own right.

Forgot to mention that while on vacation in The Czech Republic on a hot summer day back in '98,I went into some tiny supermarket store to buy some mineral waters, when I suddenly recognised the 'Berlin Tapes'-CD lying in the sales bucket among books, toys and other stuff.Priced around 1 English Pound it has been my biggest scoop so far.Great album!

I got most of the Icehouse albums on CD (some I also have in vinyl format too), the only album I don't have is The Berlin Tapes, it seems to be one of those rare hard to find albums for me. Even in Australia, I can't seem to find it locally. eBay and Amazon might be my best bet. shocked
