Here's a little list of bands who've covered Ultravox in some way [all of them are metal bands]:

Edguy: Hymn [boring]
Century: Dancing... [excellent version]
Ataraxia: Vienna [alternative, but interesting]
Celestial Season: Vienna [never heard the version]

Pain: Dancing... [unreleased, but it will presumably be good, since Pain are great]

There's also:

Tina Cousins: Hymn
Clawfinger: Vienna
The Chruch: Hiroshima Mon Amour

and Vic Reeves' "Belgian Police Force" version of Vienna

Anyone know any more?

Ohh - I really want to hear the And One cover. I like quite a few songs by them (Deutschmaschine, Gets You Closer, Techno Man and Panzermensch to name a few).

Oh and you forgot:-

Revolution By Night - Visions In Blue (even if the album it's on isn't out for another 6 months!)

This is - as far as I know - one of the better pursuits, as the music of the band in general is inclined towards 80s new wave.

Wow! Never thought there are so much covers of their songs (we're not talking about quality of them, though!).
I actually put down a list of Ultravox covers on my site, here:
http://fadingwave.h12.ru/ultravox/ultavox_covers.htm
-- but that was the information that I managed to gather. Maybe anyone dares to provide me with more fuller information? Maybe...
And by the way, there was a cover of "Vienna" made by the great Italian electro-gothic band Kirlian Camera, it lasts for about 9 min.! (haven't heard it yet, though shocked )

They're there... You have to register before you can download them. If I allowed guests to do everything on the forum, no one would register!!! <img border="0" alt="[Suave]" title="" src="graemlins/suave.gif" /> laugh

Wow... I never knew there were that many covers out there. Guess I should take some time to have a good look around.

I've heard Clawfinger's version of Vienna. I thought it was excellent! In fact, I downloaded it from iTunes. Yes, the irony... lmao

No, I haven't. Mind, I only have an And One Greatest Hits type thing (which has a good cover of Madness's Michael Caine on it...)

AND ONE have far more than 2 albums.

imo songwise the pick of the crop is:-

Gets You Closer (club mix)
Deutschmaschine (re-recorded version not the original album version)
Techno Man (live)
Panzermensch
Goodbye Germany
Wasted
Metal Hammer
Krieger

I'd recommend The Church, from Sydney in Australia. Been going since early 80s; initially as jangle pop psychedelic garage band then much more experimental and artily evocative as the years pass. Their version of "Hiroshima" doesn't let the side down in my opinion. Marty on lead guitar apparently introduced Steve (bass / voice) to some of his old record collection, and this is allegedly how their covers' album came about.

My amusing hat is doffed and doffed again to you, Pater Noster, for the wholly appropriate use of an apostrophe where many would omit it, and for the correct placement of said punctaution. You are a lesson to us all, Sir, and may your house prosper and flourish under the fairest of suns, and bear fruit threefold.

I now replace my amusing hat, as it doesn't do to overdo these things.
