It arrived this morning! :-)

I've played most of it - when I've had time to hear it all, I'll probably write a review here.

The CD itself looks very smart.

I thought it was going to be released on the 8th ? confused2 John must love Amazon.com!

My copy is on its way today that's because I had ordered with it The Affectionate Punch and Living Ornaments 1980, both released today.

My one regret is that I won't be at Sister Ray to meet John. I hope John makes this a habit. I'll have to arrange my holidays to tie in with his next release Urban Motets or are we in for a flood of releases?

Remember John strikes every 2 years and this is the year!

I popped by Sister Ray records in Soho on my way home today. Indeed, the CD is there (9.99). It looks interesting - the booklet is a single sheet that opens into three pages with different images inside - also there's very little information on it I noticed bar the blurb about John recording all of it and two website addresses (ie - the official CO site and Fulfill records).

No visible in-store promotion about the signing next week either...

For me the sleeve is a vast improvement on "CO I+II": one image on the front has a lot more impact than six. I prefer that release's typeface but the digipack trays did the images few favours. Roll on dawn for the premiere. There is a short 3 star review in September's Mojo (Dylan on the cover).

It was pointed out by Rob at one point early in the year that Urban Motets was going to see the light of day. It never surfaced. We shall wait and see. As you know John releases a lot of stuff every 2 years and that means 2005.

I have just finished listening to my CD, and here, finally, are my thoughts...

I am numb right now. Not just from seeing my name and John's written on the cover, but from the music contained on the CD itself. This has to be the most beautiful piece of work I've ever heard. I do agree that this is John's best in the Cathedral Oceans trilogy. The first two are wonderful, of course, but being the more vocal-oriented person that I am, I was especially pleased myself to hear more vocals on this particular album in comparison to the other two. It was this factor that made this album all the more moving for me. I loved the Gregorian vocal sounds. It's a bit hard to pick a favourite track, but at the risk of jumping on the bandwagon (which I'm not), I'd have to say that "Harmonia Mundi" moved me the most. However, all 12 tracks were equally beautiful and uplifting. I love it!!! smile
