Something else I found on You Tube... a cover of Glitter Band's "Rock and Roll"?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-68N4-otCyo

Recorded in Manchester 1980

What other covers have Ultravox done? Well here's the others I know:

"Kings Lead Hat" - Brian Eno
"Ain't Misbehavin'" - Fats Waller (Tiger Lily)

As far as I'm aware these are the only covers that Ultravox have done. It would be interesting to know if there are any others.

I read somewhere the other day that Warren wished that they'd released that cover somewhere at the time.

It's never too late. I'd slip it on the Anthology.

This is originally by Gary Glitter , not the Glitter Band

Wow, this is rare. It's probably the only time they ever played it, just this once as I've never heard of them playing it at any other gig. Not only did they almost never cover anyone else's stuff but they were rarely covered by anyone else (Zaine Griff notwithstanding).

It's interesting to note that the mighty Human League covered Rock 'N' Roll on their superb Holiday '80 EP along with Iggy Pop's Nightclubbing (itself covered later by Grace Jones). I bet no-one covers Gary Glitter songs now!

Not sure if I've missed something here but there was no glitter track on travelogue. It was on the holiday 80 ep and is now on the remastered version of travelogue. Not sure what 'i love you love me love' is.

I thought after another posting I was sure there was a GG cover somewhere. The search engine said I love ( a G G song) was on Travelogue. Just doublechecked & it's not!! shocked

I guess it doesn't really count as a 'cover' as such, but I believe Ultravox have also performed Auld Lang Syne live, on their second US tour with Midge?

Cheers ...

The Rock and Roll/Nightclubbing medley was on the canadian version of Travelogue, which had a revised tracklisting, renamed song (Being Boiled was called The Voice of Buddah) and a different sleeve (which was the same as the Holiday 80 sleeve).

Not condoning bootlegging (again - how I get away with it I don't know!) but if you search on google for Ultravox Manchester 1980 you may well come across what you want . . .

If your search includes the word torchlitcatstunzz you'll get there even quicker . . .
