I thought mine hadn't turned up today as all I got on the door mat this morning was a load of bills Then I went outside after lunch to get something from my car and saw a big white envelope propped up against the side of the door. My Return to Eden DVD and bonus print had turned up! At least Mr. Postie didn't bend it trying to get it through the letter box and thankfully it wasn't raining! I tried the DVD in my ancient computer but it refused to play it (it seems to have taken a dislike to all DVDs of late). My mother is in the front room watching TV so I'll have to wait until she goes to bed before playing the disc on the DVD player. I am however listening to the 2x CDs and... OMIGOD! What a great job they've done on recording these! Superb sound quality, a great performance and thankfully they've mixed in the sound of the audience just right. Many live recordings either almost totally cut the sound of the audience out or they are too intrusive. This recording has got the balance just right and it's just like being there all over again. Damn, talk about getting me worked up for the gigs next week! Now, I need my mother to get to bed early so I can play the DVD...

Yeah, mine all came from HMV today, and the extra copy with the print too! With Dr. Who and Grand prix qualifying to watch after a day out, looks like it's not going to get watched until tomorrow Nice embossing on the 2CD/DVD version, though. Just a shame that the print is a little pixelated, but a nice idea all the same. Rob

I had an awful morning - it would appear the DVD had not turned up. Perhaps Mr Postie took the morning off. I left the house about 11am and went about my business - in a bit of a mood to be fair - but having got back around 4pm - there was the package!!!!! Love the packaging - and the Docu is tear jerking stuff. Not watched the full run yet but what I've seen so far is fantastic! Just converting it all for my iphone and getting the audio into itunes and then its with me on my travels!!! Will be reviewing shortly. AWESOME - whats next? The app?! Can't wait, sounds neat. Roll on Tuesday!!!

Got mine this morning, and much to my wife's bemusement, had to watch the first track on my portable in bed with a coffee. Tried it our briefly this evening on the main system, sound quality seems to be awesome, but will have to wait for a 'guys' evening alone to watch it. With the system pumped up of course, to relive the chest thumping rhythm's I remember from Sheffield. My only slight disappointment was the art print. There was a big 'do' about it, and I thought it might be something special with at least printed signatures or something, or even a 'limited edition serial number' in one corner. But no, fairly nice card and all, but something I could have printed myself . . . Still going to enjoy the cd's several times over in the car to and fro from work in the next few weeks!!!

When we were first told about it, it was going to be a spot-colour screen print that would be signed by the band. This was revised the next day to a full colour litho print with pre-printed signatures. Then it was revised to a litho print without pre-printed signatures. And when mine arrived today, I was amazed to find that EMI seem to have printed it from a compressed JPEG, so that it's all artefected, rather than the original vector artwork that they possess. I'm absolutely gobsmacked at that, I can't fathom it at all. What twonks. It's not Townsend's fault though, EMI supplied the prints. It was brilliant of Townsend to do something a bit different and get a bit of excitement going.

I watched the DVD last night after The Voice Jnr had finally gone to bed. Mrs The Voice is in Birmingham at the NASUWT conference so I settled down to watch Dr Who (brill) and the DVD. Have to say the sound is terrific, the camera work excellent and the docu very insightful. I get the impression Billy can be a bit of a straight-talking, no nonsense Yorkshireman when the mood takes him. There didnt seem to be much interaction between him and Warren.
Its funny, when you go to a gig you dont always appreciate the sound because there's so much going on, your senses cant always take it all in. Manchester was a bit of a drunken haze to be honest, so it was great to see and listen to the arrangements in all their (sober) glory. Considering the guys hadn't played together for nigh-on 23 years, it shows what a talented bunch of musicians they are to be able to perform the tracks so strongly and faithfully using modern equipment. I thought Midge's voice was as strong and powerful as ever, his guitar playing still rocks and Warren looked like he lost a stone in sweat though all the frantic drumming !
I would have liked more close ups on Billy's ARP playing (the camera seemed to be at the wrong side of the keyboard) but other than that I can't fault it at all. Its a worthy and lasting legacy to a truly great and underrated band.
Roll on Amsterdam on the 26th.
The Voice

The photo was taken at the Roundhouse. But that particular photo does have an unfortunate lighting effect, it's true. In a way it makes Midge look like a slightly bizarre combination of Telly Savalas and Mikhail Gorbachev playing an electric guitar doesn't it? Errrm, night all... Paul

No, you're not Cerise. Rob can be heard, but otherwise you're quite out of it (is that a polite way to say that?!)

The DVD arrived in Japan today, and coupled with the reviews/pictures of last nights opening show it is a VERY unfortunate time to show this recording! How I wish I was there!!
Anyway, as an initial review, it sounds fantastic, is well shot and probably the best live DVD that I own (and I have many) - the quality is high and the content is superb.
Contrary to some opinions here, I did enjoy the "Making" section - it was enlightening and wonderfully raw. We don't often get to see such emotions.
All in all, a superb DVD - and the timing is perfect for me!
Hats off to the EV team, I doubt if any of this would have ever happened if it hadn't been for them carrying the torch for so long. I am indebted, and very grateful.

I've been a man of few words lately, but now I have to say: I got the package a few minutes ago, now watching the "making of" and - holy crap, are these tears on my cheeks?
Thanks for everyone involved with the production, your effort is truly appreciated here. Hats off.
