Who've you booked your ticket through Phil? I booked over the phone directly to the Philharmonic on the Monday after they went on sale, and received my ticket two days later. I assume that we are still having the Voxgate at the Philharmonic pub across the road from the venue..

The Philharmonic pub is only over the road from the venue, it's a big place makes sense to have a Voxgate there, Ultravox in Liverpool....still can't believe it!!! The address by the way is 36 Hope Street, just in case anyone needs to know. wink wink

Hello and cheers! Yes the Phil pub would be ideal. Couldn't get any closer to the venue. Some nice restaurants and cafes in the Hope Street area too if anyone is planning to eat before or after the gig.

Hotel sorted - got a good deal on lastminute.com for the Hope St Hotel nearby.

I mentioned to my Dad (who grew up in Liverpool) that I was seeing ultravox at the Phil and he said "oh there's a really nice pub over the road...". Granted he's not been back in 'pool for a few years but if its halfway decent and its opposite the venue, it seems a sensible option! smile

What time are we meeting in the pub then?

Well I never!! Didn't know your family were originally from Liverpool Flip, I believe the gents toilets in the Philharmonic pub are a sight to behold.....(not that I frequent mens toilets you understand) the urinals are made of ornate marble, hope you appreciate the surroundings when having a tinkle!! biglaugh

I certainly will Jojo. I'll be sure to let you know what I think afterwards... smile

My Grandad was the park keeper at the park in Pilch Lane, Dovecote - my dad grew up in the park keeper's house. Hatton flattened the park in the 80s - its just a flat "rec" now.

Soooo...what time are we meeting in there? Er...the pub, not the loos... bemused

Hi Flip, sorry I missed you too. I have been I'll the last couple of days so was feeling under the weather. We had a quick drink and something to eat and then had a walk to clear my head. We had a good time in the sound check, listenIng and chating to the boys, Helen was totally gobsmacked with the evening it was her first ultravox gig and I did not tell her until the last minute that she was going to meet the band, I think I will have to buy her the cd/dvd package for her birthday. we were sat directly in front of chris, just watching his face showing Shear delight and enjoying the whole evening. We are now looking forward to Oxford on Saturday

That was Phil (Flip) with that t-shirt on.

Great to see so many folk there who I recognised. Hayley, great to see you. Sorry I didn't get chance to chat but I'm sure we'll make up for that next time we catch up. Great company pre, during and after gig. Lovely to see Lavaocean, Paul, Flip, Jojo, Iria (PAA, lol), Gray, Andrea, Jim, Annis, Midgevox, Jenny, Chris, Ste, Michael, Nicola.. the list is endless, so sorry if I've missed anyone (Some names may not be known to some of you, as they're from the Simple Minds fanbase of friends of mine!!)

Thanks to all the kind people I met in Liverpool: JOJO & husband, FLIP, SHIRL, DARREN-MIDGEVOX (thanks for the RIE tie pin, mate!), CHRIS CURRAN, PAUL H. (such shame Pip couldn't make it!) and... JOHN LEVER (whom I hadn't seen since 1994!!!!!!!). Really great to talk to all such good vibes!! Thanks, folks! laugh

Annoying to have to admit that it was my first time ever in Liverpool and I couldn't do the Beatles tour! They were my first favourite band, 3 years before Ultravox!

Funny anecdote: there was this very friendly Scottish family sitting at breakfast at the table next to me next morning. The man was singing "No Regrets", so I turned to him and asked surpisedly whether they'd been at the concert the night before. They had no idea that UV had been playing there!! The guy happened to have been the keyboard player on a Midge album called "When You Smile, I'm In Heaven" that apparently was never released (sorry for my ignorance, I am no solo-Midge fan). We had a wee chat, very nice people, the 2 kids had outstandingly good manners and looked very happy. smile

I'm two years late with this post but I was there on the night and so thrilled to be there, it was a fantastic concert and the people I was with ( some family and friends who weren't to up to date with the playlist ) were amazed that I could sing along to all the songs ( over 30 years of practice of course ) and highlights were '' death in the afternoon and sleepwalk '' .Pity I wasn't around this forum back then ,I would have met up with a few of you in the Philhamonic pub across the street so hopfully I'lll get the op urtunity again in near future smile
