I've ripped off someone's lyrics oops!

There's a tavern in the town, in the town.
Where all the EV members went down, they went down.
And had a "Voxgate" afore the show, afore the show..... woohoo woohoo
mexican

Hey Cerise, I love the new emoticon, could one be done with the "Rage" face in celebration of the tour?

I will be in Brum too. Shame it's not the Odeon where they played before, but looking forward to enjoying a new venue

Thomas, Symphony Hall will blow you away. A fantastic venue in terms of appearance and acoustics. I've seen many shows there.

Good last line for my little ditty!

I must agree with H on the Syphony Hall, saw Midge's solo show there a long time ago.
Great sound.

I know what you mean about the Odeon though. That's where I first saw them all those years ago.

Cant think of any more lines for your ditty H,my brains still hurting after the post gig drinks after the Quiet Man in Leeds last night. :p

I've found one fly in the ointment.

These dates are around the Easter holidays.

I will be away one of these weeks frown

This means I can only make one of the dates so I'll stick with Brum.

Definitely hoping for a ticket to this one but not sure yet whether I'll be able to get a train home afterwards.......if I can't then it could be a possibility if Cass is with me....can't see myself walking into a pub alone!
Won't be needing alcohol .....I'll be so intoxicated by Ultravox that I'll be on an absolute high anyway.....best kind of highs!

Brum is the only ticket I didn't get hold of today confused2 but time a plenty so no worries. Having grown up there it's where I saw all my UV gigs in the early 80s so well looking forward to some fun laugh laugh

Cool! Got my ticket for the Symphony Hall this morning. I could only find circle seats in both pre-sales confused2 but was toying with the idea of going upstairs for one of the gigs so I bit the bullet.

I saw so many great gigs at the Brum Odeon in the early 80s - very special and very fortunate laugh

Yeah, me too. I think the best gig I ever went to (apart from the 82 UV tour) was Iggy Pop at the Odeon in 87. I was at the front against the stage and managed to get my hands on Iggy. He was smelly. I'd been to see Bowie the day before and my new 'Glass Spider' T Shirt got trashed at the Iggy gig. Too much friction.

The Symphony Hall is superb by the way. I saw David Sylvian there last year and the sound was top notch. The whole place has a nice feel. I'd been at the London gig the night before (I think it was) at the RFH. That show lacked the atmosphere of the Brum one, so looking forward to seeing UV there.

Symphony Hall is great. I worked at Symphony Hall and ICC in 1989 when it was being built. Symphony Hall was a cavernous empty concrete shell.

Every time I go, it brings back memories

Symphony Hall has fantastic acoustics: Sylvian 2007 & Goldfrapp earlier on this year both sounded fantastic. There is a Goldfrapp recording around on torrent sites of the gig that sounds fantastic if you want to hear how good it can be.

That's my experience of them as well.

Although my tickets to John Foxx @ Durham back in June never arrived at all. They messed me around quite a bit in the week before the gig.

Eventually I just had to give my name at the door.

Cant see that working for a few thousand people though

When I saw OMD at The Symphony Hall last month, I booked my tickets direct through the halls booking office.I received them within the week laugh

Others who had booked through Ticketmaster were receiving them about 2 weeks before the concert.

Had to go through Ticketmaster this time to get pre sales tickets frown

I've just won / bought 2 tickets for this one on Ebay (not the best tickets in the world - grand circle) but I got them for a very reasonalble price. I only need one ticket, so if anyone wants a spare I'd be more than happy to let it go for well below face value (I don't want to make a profit - I know how difficult it has been to get one lately). Equally, if anyone has a single ticket anywhere in the venue, and wants 2 seats together, I'll be happy to do a straight swap. Obviously, I don't have the tickets in my hand yet, so have taken a slight risk, but relying on trust.

I've more or less decided that given the acoustics at this venue I'll try and get to it provided I can get home afterwards. I've tried to find out what time the gig is likely to finish but the venue tells me they won't know until a couple of weeks beforehand.....the last train is just after 11pm. Are there any locals on here who'd know how long it'd take me to get back to Birmingham New Street please bearing in mind I know Birmingham not at all!?

Stayed at a hotel over the road from there last year - you can walk back to New Street in about 10 minutes. Have a look on Google maps smile

Yep, about 10 minutes. If your train is after 11 then you should make it easily. This venue is superb, by the way. I saw Sylvian there in 2007 and it was fabulous.

In terms of aftershow does anyone have any ideas?

I can only think of Snobs (where I had my 18th Birthday party - a long time ago - and it hasn't changed much since laugh ), but I think it's more indie than anything else and if my neice knows I'm going there she will not be happy laugh

If anyone knows of any suitable boozers that will be open for a few hours after the gig then that would suffice.

Cheers

Thomas

I recently spent a really enjoyable night at 'The Jam House' in the Jewellery Quarter. It was a works 'do' and a few of went after our Xmas party at the Dog racing. I Haven't checked what's on that night, but it's another suggestion. Think they have live music.
